Ice skating rink in American Fork to hold grand opening

By Danny Crivello - | Dec 16, 2014

The Timpanogos Ice Skating Rink’s grand opening will be held on Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Art Dye Sports Complex, located at 1000 North 550 E. Street, in American Fork.

The seasonal outdoor skating facility, sponsored in part by the City of American Fork, will run from Dec. 13, 2014, to Apr. 15, 2015. The event was originally planned for Dec. 13, but due to warmer-than-usual temperatures, the opening had to be postponed.

An ice skating rink in American Fork makes it convenient for residents of South Salt Lake County and Northern Utah County.

“This is just one more thing that adds to the charm of our community. This will be a spot for a lot of fun and will provide great memories for families and friends. ” said American Fork City Councilman Clark Taylor.

“We hope that opening the Timpanogos Ice Rink at Art Dye Park each year will add to that nostalgic feeling while providing another great option for convenient, seasonal entertainment for our residents, and residents from surrounding areas.”

Admission for all ages is $8 per person, including skates, or $6 per person if you bring your own skates. Groups of 20 qualify for a discounted rate of $5 per person (with or without one’s own skates.)

Hours will be: 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday; noon to 10 p.m., Saturday; and closed on Sunday. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day hours will be from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. (both nights).

The Grand Opening, hosted by the American Fork Chamber of Commerce, will feature a ribbon cutting, refreshments, a prize drawing and music, and Santa will be there for photos (that will be uploaded to Facebook.)
