After merging with northern Utah bank, Bank of American Fork expands to St. George

By Danny Crivello - | Sep 12, 2014

The 100-year-old bank from American Fork that never stopped turning a profit during the recession continues to grow. And why its story is fascinating.

If you think Bank of American Fork has branches only here, think again. Bank of American Fork’s reach now spans from Preston, Idaho, to St George, as the 100-year-old bank just announced the opening of its new St. George office, months after its merger with Lewiston State Bank.

“Bank of American Fork is excited to offer community banking services to the people living in and businesses building up the St. George area,” said Richard Beard, president and CEO of Bank of American Fork.

The Citizen was first to report, last year, that Bank of American Fork opened a mortgage-loan office in St. George. Now, as consumer confidence is at a record high and while Utah has recently met the challenge to create 100,000 jobs in 1,000 days, Bank of American Fork continues to spread its wings, announcing its new products and services of a big bank to the consumers and business owners in St. George.

“We have a strong customer base in Washington County. We are excited to offer our customers, the community and business owners the big-city banking we’ve been building for more than 100 years,” Mr. Beard said.

Bank of American Fork, which has recently celebrated its 100-year anniversary, has been looking for ways to increase market share through organic growth and acquisition. The bank recently merged with Lewiston State Bank and now is expanding to St. George.

St. George branch manager Bradley Stucki says he loves being a part of the growth in southern Utah. “I love Washington County and I’m pleased that we’ll be able to provide the services this community needs so we can be a vital part of the economy here,” he said.

While it’s rare for a business to last 100 years, Bank of American Fork is still locally owned. Its community-banking model has survived and thrived in the 14 communities it now serves. You can reach the new office at 453-319-6900. For other questions, please feel free to call 800-815-BANK or visit Bank of American Fork at www.bankaf.com.
