NUTCRACKER PERFORMANCE
The Utah Regional Ballet (URB), one of Utah’s professional ballet companies, announced performances of the “Nutcracker, a Holiday Tradition,” on select days.
Evening performances are scheduled for Dec. 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20 with matinees on Dec. 13 and 20 at 2 p.m.
The Ba Decllet will perform with live music provided by an orchestra under the direction of Bryce Ritting, chairman of the Music Department at Utah Valley University.
Also featured will be a new hand-painted Christmas tree by renowned artist Bill Kirkpatrick. The old tree is being retired after 29 years of tireless service. After extensive research, it was discovered that the old tree was very unique and ahead of its time in technology and usefulness.
The new tree uses this same unique design with new lighter weight opaque fabric that enhances the color and design. URB supporters can make donations to the tree fund and receive a backstage tour and the opportunity to sign the tree. To make a donation please contact Lana Jardine (801) 796-7323.
The award-winning choreography is by Jacqueline Colledge, URB artistic director with guests artists from Ballet West. The Sugarplum Fairy will be performed by Rachelle Jardine and the Cavalier by Christopher Young, both principal dancers for URB. The cast includes more than 150 children that were selected at auditions held earlier in the year.
Tickets for the evening performances will range from $18 to $26 and the matinees with no live orchestra are $16 to $22. Tickets can be purchased at the Covey Center or by calling 801-852-7007, or at www. Coveycenter.org.
