SANPETE COUNTY– Community calendar activities for the month of December are as follows:

Ephraim Lions fund raiser

The Ephraim Lions Club and See’s Chocolate have joined forces for a fundraiser to build a new kitchen pavilion at the Canyon View Park, Ephraim. See’s Chocolates will be available throughout December at Island Riders, 69 South Main, Ephraim. Orders are currently being taken. Contact 283-4188.

Pet fix special

No More Homeless Pets in Utah offers a free fix special to all local low-income families. Contact Gunnison Valley Animal Clinic, 630 South Main; North Valley Veterinary Clinic, 425 South 800 West, Salina; or Richfield Veterinary Clinic, 910 East 300 North, Richfield for details.

Donate cell phones

The Sanpete Valley Hospital is collecting old cell phones and cell phone batteries. Secure the call foundation takes phones, fixes them and reprograms them to be used as free 911 emergency phones. This can be done without a carrier service plan so the phones are distributed to domestic violence shelters, senior centers, neighborhood watch groups, school crossing guards and other agency with need of immediate 911 access. For more information get online at www.donatemycellphone.org. or just drop off the cell phone and cell phone battery at the Sanpete Valley Hospital in Mt. Pleasant.

Dec. 11

7 p.m., Ephraim Middle School will conduct its annual Candlelight program at the Eccles Performing Arts Center. Musical numbers will be performed by the middle school band, orchestra and chorus classes. Additionally, two outstanding citizens from the community will be honored with the traditional Yule candle. Dec. 11, 18

6 – 9 p.m., employment workshop at the LDS Seminary building, 190 West 500 North, Manti. The workshop presents proven job hunting techniques in a group discussion format concerning goals, job finding, phone call techniques, interview practice and resume evaluation. This event is offered at no charge to the public.

Dec. 12

2 – 7 p.m., blood drive in the Mt. Pleasant Utah Stake Center 49 South State (red church).

8 p.m., singles Christmas dance in Moroni Junction 89 will be providing the music. Thevening will start with instruction followed by the dance at 9 p.m. Bring a favorite munchie for the goodie table.

Dec. 13, 20

USU extension office has a new program to help people multiply their savings. Some eligibility criteria applies. Pick savings accounts that are matched 3 times for a first home, small business or for educational reasons. Workshops will be on Dec.13 and Dec. 20. Call to pre-register. Dec. 14

7 p.m., fireside for area singles in the Mt. Pleasant Utah Stake Center, 49 South State (red church).

Dec. 23

6 p.m., Manti City and the Manti Area Chamber of Commerce will conduct a holiday card drawing on the steps of the Manti City Library, located at 5 South Main, Manti. The grand prizes are a high definition wide screen television and a high definition radio donated by Doug Barton of Mid-Utah Radio. Other prizes include a $50 savings bond and $50 in coupons to local Manti businesses, gift baskets and more. Raffle boxes are available at most local Manti businesses and raffle tickets are free with every business transaction at local Manti businesses.
