DUP holds Christmas Party

By Judy Elsner - | Dec 10, 2008

The Springville/Mapleton Company of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers held their annual Christmas party on Dec. 4.

An Old Fashioned Christmas was the theme of this year’s get-together. Family heirlooms of Christmas items and antiques from the past were displayed as part of the decorations.

“The Legend of Christmas Spider,” from Germany and the Ukraine, was read by Sherleen Wynn. Each guest received a copy of the legend and a crafted spider.

The Union and Oak Hills Camps presented the program. Juanita Jones read a Christmas story with the theme of appreciating the diversity of two grandmothers and how much each loved their family and added to their lives in different ways.

Christmas musical selections were performed by Lois Brown and Pam Roberts on the violin, Wendy Peay on the cello and Marianne Christensen on the piano.

Melba Jarman told a story about the joy of giving to someone else and forgetting about yourself, and a piano medley was performed by Adele Lambert.

Lori Ann Morris, the outreach director for the DUP, was the lucky winner of the quilt that was given away.

The quilt was made and donated by Lucille Laney and hand quilted with the help of the Springville Senior Citizen quilters and DUP ladies.

Lunch was catered by Dalton’s and served by board members.

Starting at $4.32/week.
