SF Eagle Shawn Groo w pix

By Daily Herald - | Dec 17, 2008

Shawn Groo, 13 received the rank of Eagle Scout. He was honored on December 7, at an Eagle Court of Honor held at the Meadowlark 1st Ward cultural hall.

Last June Sawn decided to get involved with the Ronald McDonald house in Sale Lake City where families stay while their loved ones are in Primary Children’s hospital or the U of U. Shawn with the help of the volunteer coordinator at the Ronald McDonald house got a wish list of items needed, made up flyers and went to houses with the wish list. Later, he returned and picked the items up with the help of his troop and friends. Shawn was then able to deliver the items to the Ronald McDonald house. He and his family and friends cooked a dinner for the residence of the Ronald McDonald house. Shawn enjoyed planning and preparing the meal. He was able to get to know the families and their situations. It was a great experience to see how helping others benefit him.

Shawn is the son of VerNon and Cindy Groo of Spanish Fork. He is the grandson of Karen Kiggins and the late Wendell Kiggins of Pleasant Grove and Denis and Nancy Groo of Orem. Shawn enjoys baseball, skateboarding, snowboarding, BMX biking and playing guitar. Shawn would like to thank his scout leaders, his troop, family and friends who helped him achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.

Starting at $4.32/week.
