Pleasant Grove American Fork b Avice Thayne
We are having a birthday party for a wonderful woman who is celebrating her 95th birthday on January 2. Avis Hicks Thayne was born in Raymond, Alberta Canada in 1914. Her parents later moved to Ibapah, Utah, south of Wendover, where her father raised cattle and feed and sold it to the government during World War I. She attended Harrington School when she was little and then later graduated from American Fork High School. She attended the old American Fork 3rd Ward Church which is now the “Northampton House” Reception Center.
She met her husband, Ivins Thayne at a Missionary Homecoming that was held in the American Fork Tabernacle. This is when there was just on stake for the whole north part of Utah County. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 7, 1934. He passed away in November, 1990.
She has worked for Geneva Steel and then mostly at the American Fork Training School for 30 years where she was a Cottage Life Director. She is alert and active and keeps up with what is going on in the world. She takes care of her flowers and enjoys her neighbors and friends.
We will be celebrating her birthday on Saturday, January 3 at the LDS Church Building on 1270 East Battlecreek Drive (200 South), between 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. All friends and relatives are invited.
