SANPETE COUNTY– Community calendar activities for the month of November are as follows:

HEAT applications

The Six County Association of Government HEAT workers will be at the following senior citizen centers to take applications. Call the centers to schedule an appointment.

9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19, Mt. Pleasant Senior Citizen Center, call the Manti HEAT office for information 435-835-2831.

10 a.m. – noon, Wednesday, Dec. 3, Ephraim Senior Citizen Center, 85 West 100 North, 435-283-6310.

The HEAT season runs from Nov. 2008 through April 2009. Call the Manti Six Counties office to schedule regular HEAT appointments at 435-835-2831.

Support group

Gunnison Valley Hospice and Home Health will conduct a therapeutic grief and loss support group. Sessions are held at the Gunnison Valley Home Care Building, 45 East 100 North. Sessions will be weekly and until Nov. 12. Contact Brandon Morrill or Carl Cox at 528-3955.

Pet fix special

No More Homeless Pets in Utah offers a free fix special to all local low-income families. Contact Gunnison Valley Animal Clinic, 630 South Main; North Valley Veterinary Clinic, 425 South 800 West, Salina; or Richfield Veterinary Clinic, 910 East 300 North Richfield for details.

Donate cell phones

The Sanpete Valley Hospital is collecting old cell phones and cell phone batteries. Secure the call foundation takes phones, fixes them and reprograms them to be used as free 911 emergency phones. This can be done without a carrier service plan so the phones are distributed to domestic violence shelters, senior centers, neighborhood watch groups, school crossing guards and other agency with need of immediate 911 access. For more information get online at www.donatemycellphone.org. or just drop off the cell phone and cell phone battery at the Sanpete Valley Hospital in Mt. Pleasant.

Nov. 10-18

Registration for Junior Badger basketball will take place at the Ephraim City Building, 5 South Main. Sign-ups will run Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and youth from 3rd-8th grade are eligible to play and the cost is $25 a player.

Nov. 15

Wild Horse and Burro adoption will take place at the Delta Wild Horse and Burro Facility, 600 North 350 West, Delta. The facility is open 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Monday – Friday. First come, first served.

Larry Kings “Legends of Country Music” will be coming to the Eccles Performing Arts Center at Snow College in Ephraim, at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. There will be no reserved seating. Tickets are being sold as a fund-raiser for various organizations such as the Manti Fire Department, Snow College Rock Climbing Club, or the county food bank depending on where the tickets are purchased. Tickets can be purchased at Jensen’s Department Store, Manti; Security Financial, Ephraim; Terell’s Market Place, Mt. Pleasant; and at The Pyramid, 49 West Main Street, Mt. Pleasant. Nov. 19-22

Snow College Theatre Arts Department presents It Runs in the Family. Curtain time, 8 p.m., in the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts. Directed by Brad V. Olsen..

Nov. 28

Manti Light Parade. Early shopping, Santa, movie, refreshments. Businesses open at 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Contact Manti City Hall, 835-2401 for further information.

Dec. 5

Ephraim City encourages participants from all communities to participate in their Annual Electric Light Parade to be held Friday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m. The Theme for this year’s parade is “Christmas Traditions” There is no entry fee. Entry Forms are available at the Ephraim City Building, or call Ephraim City at 283-4631. Cash prizes will be awarded!
