LIBRARY CORNER–stand alone picture

By Daily Herald - | Feb 11, 2009

The Springville Public Library hosted the very popular Mother-Daughter Book Club on Jan 30. This book club is for girls ages 8 – 12 and their mothers (or another caring adult). They meet every other month to discuss a different book. In January the book was “Jennifer Murdley’s Toad” by Bruce Coville. It is about a young girl who feels that she is very ugly. She stumbles upon a magic shop and ends up purchasing a toad. The toad is magical and can speak. Soon Jennifer is caught up in a magical adventure and learns some very important lessons. The mothers and daughters made paper toads, played games, made lip gloss and enjoyed some toad-related refreshments. There was also a discussion about the book, beauty and what happiness really is. The book club is a great way for mothers and daughters to spend time together. If mothers are unavailable fathers, grandparents, aunts, neighbors or a friend’s mother are welcome. The next meeting is Thursday, March 26, at 7 p.m. They will discuss “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.” Pick up a copy at the library’s front desk.

Starting at $4.32/week.
