The DUP Museum in Springville has re-opened after improvements were made. Museum hours are Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 1 to 4 p.m. Appreciation was expressed to Springville City for painting of the entry way, hallway and conference room. New carpet and refinishing of the woodwork was also done.
Judie Eatough, previous BYU weaving instructor, has been teaching and helping interested people in getting started with the use of the looms. Starting with weaving rugs, she will also be available as consultant for the museum’s weaving education.
Springville DUP Museum volunteers are beginning to work on the digitalization of pioneer stories and photographs for use in family history research.
Katie Davison, chairman of the Springville DUP Museum gift shop, asked members to continue contributing items such as aprons, bonnets and baby quilts for sale at the museum and at the Art City Days celebration in June.
Camp Calico presented the program, “Grandmother’s Suitcase,” by Cora Sawyer. This was a fashion show and presentation of clothing from her ancestors and fashions from the past. Her stories were from her heart and her treasured heirlooms. She also encouraged us to write our stories for our ancestors. All members enjoyed her displays and thanked her for sharing her story with us.
It was announced that beginning next month the Springville/Mapleton DUP Company will meet at the Art Museum. The next meeting will be March 5 with the board meeting at 1 p.m. and the Company meeting at 2.
