SANPETE COUNTY– Community calendar activities for the month of February are as follows:
Ephraim Lions fund raiser
The Ephraim Lions Club and See’s Chocolate have joined forces for a fundraiser to build a new kitchen pavilion at the Canyon View Park, Ephraim. See’s Chocolates are available at Island Riders, 69 South Main. Orders are currently being taken. Contact 283-4188.
Flu vaccines
The Central Utah Public Health Department is offering flu vaccines at their Manti, Mt. Pleasant, Richfield, Delta, Fillmore, Nephi, Loa and Junction offices this season. Walk-ins are always welcome and most insurances are accepted.
Donate cell phones
The Sanpete Valley Hospital is collecting old cell phones and cell phone batteries. Secure the call foundation takes phones, fixes them and reprograms them to be used as free 911 emergency phones. This can be done without a carrier service plan so the phones are distributed to domestic violence shelters, senior centers, neighborhood watch groups, school crossing guards and other agency with need of immediate 911 access. Snow College presents “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.” A play is based on the Comic Strip “Peanuts” by Charles M. Schulz. Millard County Economic Development Association, the USDA Risk Management Agency and Utah State University Extension will co-sponsor the sixth annual Diversified Agriculture Conference, in Delta. Adult registration includes meals from Wednesday dinner through Friday breakfast. 11 p.m., If a person is going to apply for a permit to hunt big game in Utah this fall, this is the deadline of the application period. Applications will be accepted at www.wildlife.utah.gov until 11 p.m.

Mock Earthquake Disaster 6 p.m., Friday, Feb. 27, when an imaginary 6.5 earthquake will take out all utilities such as electrical power, natural gas, sewage, water, and phone lines. (NOTE: these utilities will not be shut off but it is suggested participants turn things off or don’t use them to get the real effect. Do not turn the natural gas valve off) Can people survive without these utilities until 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, when the mock disaster ends? Meet at North Sanpete High School at noon, Saturday, Feb. 28 where participants 12-years an older can attend a preparedness activity “Are You Ready.” Participants can obtain hands-on help with some of their concerns about being prepared for a disaster. There will be individual classes, activities and booths on various subjects.
6 p.m., Feb, 27 is pre-registration for the 2009 Sheep and Goat Education Day will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Deseret Peak Livestock Facility in Tooele.

7 p.m., As part of the Tanner Lecture Series and Convocation, Mary Eisenhower will speak in the Eccles Center and Snow College’s Ephraim campus.

Utah State University Extension and the Sanpete County Farm Bureau will hold their annual Farm Safety Course, Friday and Saturday, at the Extension office on the Ephraim Snow College Campus. Pre-register by calling the Sanpete County Extension office at 435-283-7597.
March 14
9 – 11 a.m., Sanpete County 4-H will hold a workshop at the Ephraim Snow College West Campus, 325 West 100 North, entitled “Time to Make Music.” Registration is from 8:45 – 9 a.m. This workshop is for kids from kindergarten-12th grade. A parent must accompany children kindergarten-2nd grade. The workshop is free for 4-H members and there is a nominal fee for non-members.
