cel Tops Open house

By Daily Herald - | Jan 14, 2009

MT. PLEASANT– January is International Open House month for all TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Club, Inc. chapters. TOPS UT 321 encourages the public to join them at an open house event Thursday, Jan. 15, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Mt. Pleasant Senior Citizen Center.

TOPS, a nonprofit organization, is eager to share messages of weight-loss support and wellness education at a time when people are resolving to live a healthier lifestyle in the New Year.

Community residents throughout the US and Canada are encouraged to visit their local TOPS meeting for affordable support following the renewed motivation that comes with this common New Year’s resolution.

Colette Sparks joined in May 2008, because she was finally ready to take control of her health. “I tried fad diets that never worked,” Sparks said. “TOPS was different because I immediately experienced their caring support. With the encouragement provided by my chapter, I changed the way I thought about food, started exercising and I am working to achieve my goal.”

Sparks has lost 15.5 pounds. She revealed by following the example of successful TOPS members in her chapter (called KOPS for Keep Off Pounds Sensibly – a designation for members who achieve their goal weight), she realizes that the weight-loss journey is on-going. “I know I need to remain focused on meeting my goal,” Sparks said. “TOPS provides the motivation and educational programs that keep me on track.”

Visitors are welcome to attend their first TOPS meeting free of charge. To find another local chapter, visit www.tops.org or call TOPS Headquarters at 800-932-8677.

Starting at $4.32/week.
