Big Band Night + pic

By Daily Herald - | Jan 21, 2009

Citizens are invited to join the student cast of singers and talented musicians as they take you back to World War II and the famous Stage Door Canteen, where soldiers, sailors, marines and nurses came to eat, dance and forget about the hardships of war. Big Band Night will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, at Brigham Young University.

As you arrive at the Brigham Young Wilkinson Student Center, allows them to take you back to another time. Upon arrival, costumed students who will escort your party to your table will greet you.

There you may engage in conversation about “the war effort” or other topics of the period. During the entire evening you will have the opportunity to go back in time while enjoying the sounds of the ’40’s.

Come and enjoy the full course buffet provided by BYU Dining Services. Dinner will be available only from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. so don’t be late!

During your meal you will have the opportunity to dance to the live sounds of BYU’s own Synthesis band. Starting at 9 p.m., the singers, cast and band will re-enact a wartime love story. The finale will recognize war veterans who have and are currently serving our country. Afterwards, spend the remainder of the evening dancing to the music of Synthesis.

This is a great way to celebrate the upcoming Valentine’s weekend with a loved one!

The event will be held in the Ernest L. Wilkinson Student Center Ballroom. Parking is available in the Law School parking lot.

Cost is $22 per person and includes full dinner, entertainment and dancing. Tickets are available at the Wilkinson Student Center Information booth, or by calling 422-4313.
