RE: Proposed August 2009 Service Changes
UTA is proposing several service changes to local and express bus service in Utah County. A Public Hearing will be held to discuss these proposed changes. Most changes are being proposed due to low ridership on Saturday and a few weekday trips.
Utah County: Provo City Library, 550 No. University Ave, in the Young Card Room, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, 2 June 2009.
At the hearing, the Utah Transit Authority will provide an opportunity for citizens, private transportation providers, public officials and interested agencies to comment on the proposed changes. To be included as part of the Public Hearing record, all comments must be postmarked or received by UTA no later than June 9, 2009.
THE FORMAT FOR THE PUBLIC HEARINGS WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:
Open House to review and discuss proposal with UTA representatives (First 30 minutes) Presentation by UTA representative regarding proposal (Immediately following Open House) Public comment period (Immediately following presentation)
To assure full participation at the hearing, accommodations for effective communication such as sign language interpreters or printed materials in alternative formats, or a language interpreter for non-English speaking participants, must be requested at least five (5) working days prior to the date of the scheduled event. Requests for ADA accommodations should be directed to UTA

Proposals are as follows:
UTA is proposing several service changes designed to save funds from non productive routes, also improving local and inter county bus service in the Utah County area. A Public Hearing will be held to discuss the following proposals: Service reductions for Saturdays, Weekdays and informational items:
Service Reductions on Saturday because of low ridership:
Cutting Saturday Routes 831 and 862 entirely.
Reduce Saturday Route 833 service from 1 to 2 hour frequency.
Reduce Saturday Route 822 service from 1 to 2 hour frequency.
Remove Saturday SB Route 830 trip at 21:45 because of low ridership.
Remove Saturday 07:46 and 10:16 SB trips on Route 850, Transit Center to East Bay.
Service Reductions on Weekdays because of low ridership:
Minor Service Reductions Weekdays due to low ridership.
Remove Weekday Route 862 EB trip at 05:50
Remove Weekday Route 831 SB trip at 20:00
Informational items:
Consider combining parts of routes of 831, 832, 833, and 862 to replace Saturday service in the
Provo Orem area.
Route 817 will now start and end its trips on Provo Center Street just east of University Ave.
Routes 811 and 817 timing will change due to the changes coming on Front Runner/Trax
Route 811 will have several PM timing changes for better reliability
The first NB Route 811 will be scheduled earlier to be able to meet the University Trax Line
Route 850 NB evening trips will have timing adjustments.
Route 833 SB trip timing will be adjusted 5 minutes back to accommodate transfers
Relevant information about the proposed changes will be available at the Public Hearing or may be reviewed at the UTA Orem office, 1110 South Geneva Road, until June 9, 2009. Comments must be postmarked or received by UTA no later than June 9, 2009 to be part of the Public Hearing record.
