Sanpete flooding
MANTI– Cities and towns throughout Sanpete County are preparing for possible flooding, due to continuing storms and high elevation snow pack.
Irrigation companies have been cleaning ditches and making sandbags and sand available for resident who may need it. Manti City Officials do not expect any major problems, but said much will depend on how fast the weather warms up and future storms.
Ephraim City is working with the irrigation company to clean the canal to ensure water flow will be uninhibited. The city has also made sandbags available to flood prone areas and also to local church wards. Ephraim officials will meet with the irrigation company Wednesday, May 4, to ensure that flood preparation are complete.
City officials throughout the area are warning residents to keep a close eye on children and pets while around fast-moving waters.
