It feels kind of strange to make only our second post on the blog using an image shot by a former staff member- Patrick Smith.

But I guess there’s really no better way to kick things off than a Throwback Thursday to pay homage to all those that came before us at the Daily Herald.

I can’t speak for everyone here, but after the years I spent in school studying I still learned more at my internships or on the job alongside some extremely talented coworkers.

Patrick Smith is now freelancing in Baltimore, Maryland. I was lucky to work with him here at the newspaper early in my career, (it’s still early in my “career”), and was dumbfounded on a regular basis when he’d return from even dull assignments with some of the most stunning visuals.
