Chipotle to open in Orem by the end of summer
By the end of the summer, Utah Valley residents will be able to enjoy their very own local Chipotle Mexican Grill.
The restaurant seems to create a bit of a following wherever it goes, with more than 2 million followers on their Facebook page, and more than 673,000 Twitter followers. Utah Valley residents also have been buzzing about when the new Chipotle, now under construction at the University Place Mall, will be open.
Danielle Winslow, public relations for Chipotle, confirmed last week that construction will finish in August, and they should be able to open their doors soon after. Winslow said there was not a firm date, but things seem to be on track.
Chipotle is a fast casual restaurant chain that focuses on using fresh and organic ingredients to build their burritos, burrito bowls, tacos and salads.
“Chipotle was founded on the idea that fast food does not have to be your typical fast food experience and today we are changing the way people think about and eat fast food. Our food culture is built around finding the best ingredients from better sources for everything we serve in our restaurants. We offer a focused menu of burritos, tacos, burrito bowls (a burrito without the tortilla) and salads made from fresh, high-quality raw ingredients, prepared using classic cooking methods and served in a distinctive atmosphere,” Winslow said.
In keeping with its commitment to quality ingredients, in April, the chain was the first national restaurant company to remove all genetically modified organism (GMO) food from their menu, in addition to offering gluten-free choices. The business also sources “Responsibly Raised” meat and hormone-free dairy.
Pleasant Grove resident Kelly Ovard is familiar with Chipotle Mexican Grill from living for many years outside Utah. Up until now, to get her Chipotle fix, she’d hit the Sandy location whenever she had a reason to be in the Salt Lake area.
“Every item on their small menu is excellent. They buy organic vegetables and sustainable meat where possible and everything is high quality. You can get a very healthy large burrito for $8,” she said. “Cafe Rio is nowhere near as good. Being from Colorado, where we have Chipotle everywhere, one in Utah Valley is long overdue!”
