With a pounding beat, dragons, balloons and streamers of blue, and of course the giant baby-blue rooster, Domo definitively declared it is now the Business Cloud.

At the kick-off of Domopalooza Tuesday morning, founder and CEO Josh James took to the stage in the Grande America Hotel excited to share how the company has changed business for companies both large and small. And now, after months of teasing about how the company was “changing tech forever,” Domo delivered on its promise.

It’s been five years in the making, costing more than half a billion dollars, and has required the expertise of some of the top tech talent, but Domo has now made it possible for companies to merge all their different data streams into one workable area in real time.

“There’s an HR cloud, there’s a sales cloud, there’s a marketing cloud, there’s a finance cloud, there’s a file system cloud, and they all have data in various silos …. How do we get all that data to talk to each other? You don’t. It doesn’t talk to each other. So we created a business that set out to make all the data talk to each other,” Josh James said at Tuesday’s announcement.

James also announced Domo’s Buzz, an online collaboration platform, because an important aspect of implementing strategies according to data is the social component, so the people involved can have direct, tracked conversations about the data. Additionally, through an ecosystem of more than 1,000 business management apps, the Business Cloud within a company can be personalized by any employee there. These new apps are a mix of free and premium pre-packaged solutions that are easy to discover and use, according to Domo, which enables decision makers to find answers to business questions specific to their role or industry. James also announced that the Business Cloud is completely self-service now, and available for free to any user. Freemium users can pay to store more data or access more advanced administrative enterprise functionality.

“When I was running my last company, I always thought someone should make it possible to run your entire business in the cloud, and since day one at Domo, we’ve been working towards that,” James said later. “With the Business Cloud customers quickly get the big picture of what’s going on in their business by leveraging the preferred cloud and on-premise software they use every day in finance, sales, marketing and operations. The multi-cloud infrastructure we’ve developed over the past five years is now an open ecosystem, giving our partners even broader visibility and adoption opportunities through our platform and Appstore. What’s more, today anyone can sign up on their own and start experiencing for free how the Business Cloud changes the way business is managed.”

The Business Cloud leverages thousands of data sources and sophisticated technology Domo has developed to bring that data seamlessly together. And in today’s high-tech, high-speed world, the company is hoping executives will manage their business almost completely from their smartphone using Domo Mobile.

“In our personal lives, technologies such as Facebook keep us connected to the information and the people we care about most,” said James. “The iPhone allows us to run our lives with our phone. The Business Cloud, for the first time, brings these same personal experiences with technology to the way we run our businesses.”

Domopalooza continues through Friday and is bringing together more than 1,500 business leaders from all over the world this week, where they learn more about how to use data to better manage their business. According to Heather Zynczak, Domo CMO, Domo executives and Domo customers partnered in breakout sessions to share how they use the data to improve their business, educating others in similar industries.
