Utah unemployment rate rises slightly to 3.5 percent

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s unemployment rate rose slightly last month to 3.5 percent.

July’s jobless rate released by Utah’s Department of Workforce Services on Friday was one-tenth of a percentage point higher than the previous month.

The national unemployment rate dropped in July by one-tenth of a percentage point to 4.3 percent.

The state Workforce Services Department says there were about 54,500 unemployed Utah residents who were looking for in July.
