Gavan Thorpe tapped as new Boostability CEO

Boostability president and COO Gavan Thorpe was named CEO by the company’s board of directors last month.

“I’m happy for the opportunity that the Boostability board have entrusted in me to take the company to the next level and to fully lead the organization,” Thorpe said. “The past few years have been fantastic and I don’t expect that to change.”

Thorpe joined Boostability as an infrastructure architect in January 2013 and was promoted to COO in 2014, and president in mid-2015. Thorpe is optimistic about Boostability’s present and future, and he expressed an appreciation for all the employees that have made the company a success.

Boostability is based in Silicon Slopes and focuses on affordable and effective SEO for the small businesses. The company currently serves more than 26,000 small business clients.

Numetric marks solid growth during 2016

American Fork-based Numetric, a business intelligence provider, announced the company has grown by a factor of six in the past year alone, while its customer base continues to grow strongly. Numetric’s rapid growth follows its announcement in late December that the company received $3.75 million in funding led by EPIC Ventures, and that it had appointed Greg Butterfield as chairman of the company’s board.

The recent funding and addition of Butterfield have enabled a Numetric hiring spree, including members of its executive management team. Numetric will be focused on sales and marketing efforts for the first time in company history.

“Our growing success should come as no surprise to the business analytics community considering how incredibly fast and intuitive our platform is,” said Numetric co-founder and CEO Robert Sweeney. “It’s not a stretch to say this could transform the future of business intelligence. The data analysts, university presidents, retail executives and others who have used our platform tell us essentially the same thing: with Numetric they get the answers they need from their vast volumes of data, immediately, in a way they have never seen before. This helps them apply and use that key data to build their organizations.”

Several large Utah retailers and organization are now using Numetric for business intelligence — including Costa Vida, Freshly Picked, Orbit and the Utah Department of Transportation. Numetric has also expanded their services beyond the state’s borders and into universities around the nation.

Local company offers aluminum ball mount

Progress Manufacturing in Provo announced it had created the strongest aluminum ball mount on the market: the Fastway Trailer Products’ E series HD ball mount.

According to a Progress Manufacturing press release, the E series HD is built to fit a 2½-inch receiver and has the highest rating of any aluminum ball mount in the industry (1,800 lb. max. tongue weight and 18,000 lb. max. trailer weight) so it can handle the heaviest trailer with ease.

“We are extremely pleased with the quality of the E series HD,” said CEO Jed Anderson. “It’s manufactured from aircraft-grade aluminum, which provides its impressive tow rating and gorgeous finish. We appreciate the interest we are receiving from customers, dealers and distributors, and are thrilled we can deliver a weight rating of 18,000 pounds.”
