From Toys R Us to Shopko, several retailers have shuttered recently, and now Gymboree and Crazy 8 stores can be added to the list.

The Gymboree Group announced this week that the company has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy relief and will close all Gymboree and Gymboree Outlet stores. The company will also be closing its Crazy 8 stores nationwide. These announced closures will include a Gymboree Outlet store in Lehi and a Crazy 8 store in Orem.

According to a press release, the company is using the Chapter 11 court proceedings to “to facilitate an orderly wind-down of all of its Gymboree and Crazy 8 store locations and operations.”

There is currently one Gymboree Outlet location in Utah County, at the Outlets at Traverse Mountain. There is also one Crazy 8 store in Utah County, at University Place in Orem.

The Gymboree Outlet in Lehi was informed of the pending closure, but officials at that store said that the official date for closure has not been confirmed. The Orem Crazy 8 store was also informed of the closure, but does not have a a set date for closure.

The company also owns the brand Janie and Jack and will be preparing for the sale of that brand.

“We are saddened and highly disappointed that we must move ahead with a wind-down of the Gymboree and Crazy 8 businesses,” said Shaz Kahng, the Gymboree Group CEO in the prepared press release. “At the same time, we are focused on using this process to preserve the Janie and Jack business – a strong brand that is poised to grow – by pursuing a sale of the business as a going concern. As we move ahead, we are working to minimize the impact on our employees, customers, vendors and other stakeholders.”

The company has not released specific dates for its store closures, but do say that the stores and the company’s online platform will remain open and serve customers until the closures are complete.

Statewide, there is another Gymboree Outlet store in Park City, and Gymboree stores in Ogden and Farmington. There are also Crazy 8 store locations in Layton and Riverdale.

There is only one Janie and Jack store in Utah, at Fashion Place Mall in Murray.
