A weekend trip to St. George in mid-March for our grandson Jensen’s baseball tournament turned into the perfect opportunity to get some extended time in the all-new 2025 Toyota Crown Signia Limited.
With its hybrid powertrain, all-wheel drive and premium comfort, there was no better way to see how the Crown Signia handled both long highway stretches and city driving. Adding an additional layer of excitement to the trip, we encountered a blizzard-like snowstorm in Cedar City, giving us a real-world test of the vehicle’s traction and stability.
First impressions
The Toyota Crown Signia Limited comes loaded with a dose of sophistication with a very sleek and modern design. Toyota has crafted a vehicle that blended the best of both SUVs and sedans, offering a unique and striking appearance.
From the bold front grille, to sculpted body lines and stylish LED lighting, the Signia made a statement on the road. The 21-inch wheels added to its upscale look while also contributing to a smooth and gentle ride.
Inside the Signia, we were immediately impressed with the premium materials and spacious cabin. The leather-trimmed seats, woodgrain accents and ambient lighting created an inviting atmosphere.
The included heated and ventilated seats more than ensured our individual comfort throughout the journey south, and the panoramic sunroof provided an open and airy feel — perfect for enjoying the stunning landscapes of Southern Utah.
Toyota’s attention to detail in the stitching and the high-resolution digital gauge cluster made it clear that they had designed this vehicle with luxury in mind.
The drive down — Performance and handling
Getting out of the Utah Valley, the Crown Signia hybrid powertrain delivered a seamless blend of power and efficiency. With a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine paired with Toyota’s latest hybrid system, we enjoyed 243 horsepower and an all-wheel-drive system that adapted to the many changing conditions we encountered on the trip down.
On the highway, the Crown Signia was very composed and quiet, making for a relaxing drive. The adaptive cruise control made long stretches on Interstate 15 effortless, and lane-keeping assist helped reduce fatigue.
The ride quality was exceptional, with the suspension absorbing road imperfections while maintaining stability.
As we approached Cedar City, the skies darkened and, soon enough, we found ourselves in the middle of a late-season snowstorm. This was where the Crown Signia’s all-wheel-drive system truly shined.
Despite the slick, snowy roads, the vehicle remained planted and controlled, giving us confidence as we carefully navigated through the storm. The Snow Mode feature optimized traction and helped us drive as we made it through without any issues.
Visibility was aided by the automatic wipers and heated mirrors, which prevented ice buildup.
Exploring St. George
Arriving in St. George, we were welcomed by the warmer (but not perfect) weather we wanted. In contrast to the snowy roads we had just left behind, there were wet ones in Utah’s Dixie.
Over the next four days, the Crown Signia became our trusted companion as we explored the area and attended Jensen’s baseball games.
Around town, we appreciated the SUV’s maneuverability and responsive steering. The hybrid system provided instant torque, making acceleration smooth and efficient. Parking at crowded venues was a breeze thanks to the 360-degree camera system, which offered a clear view of our surroundings.
The hands-free power liftgate made loading and unloading our gear effortless, especially with our arms full of baseball equipment and coolers.
We also took advantage of the Crown Signia’s spacious cargo area. Whether it was baseball gear, coolers for game-day snacks or extra luggage, the 21.7 cubic feet of cargo space handled it all with ease. The rear seats folded down quickly, allowing us to store even more when needed.
Fuel efficiency — A road trip win
One of the standout aspects of the Crown Signia Limited was its impressive fuel economy. Despite covering over 700 miles on our trip and the ensuing three days, we averaged nearly 39 miles per gallon — an exceptional number for a vehicle of this size and capability.
With gas prices fluctuating, it was a relief to know we were getting the most out of each tank. The hybrid system seamlessly transitioned between gas and electric power, maximizing efficiency without compromising performance.
Technology and comfort
Toyota had outfitted the Crown Signia with an intuitive and feature-rich infotainment system. The 12.3-inch touch screen was easy to use, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto making smartphone integration seamless.
The JBL premium audio system delivered crisp and immersive sound, making road trip playlists all that much more enjoyable. Voice recognition worked well for hands-free commands, allowing us to adjust navigation and climate settings with ease.
The driver assistance features worked flawlessly throughout our trip, excepting through the blizzard in Cedar City. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 suite of features added an extra layer of confidence behind the wheel.
The head-up display projected vital information onto the windshield, reducing distractions and keeping our eyes on the road.
At the end of the week
The 2025 Toyota Crown Signia Limited proved to be the ideal vehicle for our weekend getaway. It combined style, comfort and efficiency with all-weather capability, making it a versatile choice for both daily driving and road trips.
Whether we were navigating snowy mountain passes or cruising through somewhat sunny St. George, the Crown Signia delivered a refined and enjoyable driving experience.
For anyone looking for a premium hybrid SUV with excellent fuel economy, a spacious interior and Toyota’s renowned reliability, the Crown Signia Limited would be a compelling option. Our week in the Crown reaffirmed that Toyota continues to innovate in the hybrid space, offering a vehicle that is both practical and luxurious.
