Saturday, August 6
Little Miss Salem Contest
When: 6 p.m.
Where: Salem Hills High, 150 W. Skyhawk Blvd.
What: Salem’s goal in hosting the Little Miss Pageant is for parents and their little darlings to share in each Little Misses youth, talents and energy. These little darlings have a lot to offer Salem and at such a young age. The city encourages all of the little residents to begin serving the community, developing talents, and staying true to the values Salem upholds.
Mud Volleyball Tournament
When: 1 p.m.
Where: Rodeo Arena
Registration: $35 per team. This year’s tournament is open registration, but please register beforehand at the Salem Parks & Rec office, 60 N. 100 East
Dutch Oven Cook-Off
When: Check-in at noon. Judging from 4-6 p.m.
Where: Salem Community Center, 151 W. 300 South
Cost: No Entry Fee.
Sunday, August 7
Family Fireside with Hank Smith
When: 7 p.m.
Where: Salem Hills High School
What: Hank Smith is a seminary instructor, author, and speaker known for his youth devotional speeches for Especially for Youth. Hank and his wife, Sara, were both raised in St. George. They are the parents of one daughter and two sons. Hank enjoys running marathons and eating lots and lots of ice cream (which is why he runs). More than anything else, he loves being at home spending all day with his wife and children
Monday, August 8
Firefly Concert in the Park
When: 7 p.m.
Where: Knoll Park Outdoor Stage
Who: Firefly and Bronson & Maisy Merchant
Tuesday, August 9
Adult Kickball
When: 6:30 p.m.
What: This is sure to be a big “kick” during the celebration. So think back to the future when you were in grade school playing kickball during recess!
Registration: $60 per 10-person team. Players must be entering 10th grade this school year and older to participate. Sign up at the Salem Parks & Rec office, 60 North 100 East.
Cardboard Duct Tape Boat Regatta
When: 4 p.m. for boat building, 6 p.m. race time
Where: Beach at Knoll Park
Entry Fee: $15 per boat/team
What: This one is very entertaining to watch! Fun for the whole family, boats made entirely of cardboard and duct tape. Each team is supplied corrugated cardboard, a 1x2x8 board, and two rolls of duct tape.
Details: Each participant is responsible to provide their own utility knives for cutting, life vests, paddles, and markers/spray paint for decoration.
Wednesday, August 10
Baby Contest
When: 4-6 p.m.
Where: Salem Elementary School, 140 W. 100 South.
Registration: Fee is $20 for registration the day of the contest is $20.
Tractor Show and Pull
When: 4-6 p.m. display, 6 p.m. pulling begins
Where: Rodeo Arena
What: Tractors run in weight classes starting from standing start until sled stalls tractor. Tractors are scored by distance pulled.
Movie in the Park: ‘Zootopia'
When: Dusk (9 p.m.-ish)
Where: Loafer View Recreation Complex.
What: Bring your blankets and chairs and enjoy the movie while munching on free drinks and popcorn. Kids will also enjoy the glow sticks.
Cost: Free
Thursday, August 11
Senior Dinner
When: 5:30 p.m.
Where: Salem Community Center
What: There will be door prizes, entertainment, and time to visit with one another. Catered by Madera Smokehouse. This event is for Seniors age 62 and older.
Little Buckaroo Rodeo
When: 6:30 p.m.
Where: Salem Rodeo Arena
What: Featuring mutton bustin’, pole bending, barrel racing, steer riding and more.
Admission: $5 per carload or $1 per person.
Co-Ed Softball Tournament
When: Thursday-Friday
What: Two divisions this year, a Family Division and an Open Division, something for everyone! Get your family and friends together and join us for the annual Salem Days Co-Ed Softball Tournament.
Registration: $150 per team or $100 if your team is already playing in the fall co-ed league. Register at Salem Parks & Rec office, 60 N. 100 East.
Friday, August 12
Children’s Parade
When: 6:15 p.m.
Where: Starts at the Salem City Office, 30 N. 100 East
Details: This year’s theme is “City of Superheroes.”
Fair in the Square
When: 6-9 p.m.
Where: Veterans Memorial Park
What: Snow cones, fishing, Ring the Pop, dunking machine, treasure hunt and more. Each item requires a ticket which is 25 cents. You can be dunked in the dunk tank for two tickets.
Concert in the Park
When: 7:30 p.m.
Where: Veteran Ball Park (downtown)
What: Enjoy the musical talents of local performers Jocelyn Baker and Steve Boothe.

Family Fun Run
When: 7 a.m. sharp for the 1 Mile Run, 7:30 a.m. sharp for the 5K
Where: Knoll Park/Salem Pond
Breakfast in the Park
When: 7-9 a.m.
Where: Knoll Park
What: Salem’s goal for the Breakfast in the Park is to bring together the residents of Salem to fill their tummies, visit and meet their local officials.
Cost: Free
Grand Parade
When: 10 a.m.
Where: Starting at Knoll Park and ending at Veterans Memorial Park, 125 S. 100 East.
Car Show
When: 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
Where: Veterans Memorial Ballpark, 125 S. 100 East
Fair in the Square
When: 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
