MUD VOLLEYBALL
When: 1 p.m.
Where: Rodeo Arena
What: Registration is open to the first 24 teams and costs $35 per team; participants must submit registration and liability waivers to Salem Parks and Recreation.
LITTLE MISS PAGEANT
When: 6 p.m.
Where: Salem Hills High School Auditorium, 150 W. Skyhawk Blvd.
What: This year’s essay topic is “How I see the future and can make a positive contribution.” Girls aged five to 12 may participate in the pageant. Essays and registration forms must be submitted by Thursday, July 27 at noon to Salem Parks and Recreation. Registration forms and liability waivers are online at www.salemcity.org.

What: This year’s speakers are Kevin and Denise Miller and is non-denominational.
Monday, Aug. 7
FAMILY CONCERT
When: 7 p.m.
Where: Salem Hills High School football field
What: The concert is free and will feature performances by James the Mormon and Maddie Wilson.
Tuesday, Aug. 8
KICKBALL TOURNAMENT
When: 6:30 p.m.
Where: Loafer View Recreational
Complex
CARDBOARD DUCT TAPE REGATTA
When: Boat building at 4 p.m.; race at 6 p.m.
Where: Knoll Park Beach
What: Registration costs $15 per boat and supplies are provided the day of the race. There are four categories: youth, adult, family and freestyle. Participants are required to bring their own knives for cutting, life vests, paddles and decorations. Register at www.salemcity.org.
Wednesday, Aug. 9
BABY CONTEST
When: 4-6 p.m.
Where: Salem City Recreation, 60 N 100 E
What: Children aged newborn to 3 years old may participate in the contest. Pre-registration is $15 and is open until 5 p.m. on July 27. Participants may register at the Salem City Recreation Center or on the day of the contest until 5:30 p.m. Same day registration costs $20.
TRACTOR SHOW AND PULL
When: 4 p.m.
Where: Rodeo Arena
What: The show runs from 4 ¬ 6 p.m. with the tractor pull beginning immediately after and runs until every tractor has pulled a weight transfer sled.
MOVIE IN THE PARK
When: 9 p.m.
Where: Loafer View Recreation Complex
What: Bring the family and come watch DreamWorks’s “Trolls.” Admission is free and includes drinks, popcorn and glow sticks.
Thursday, Aug. 10
COED SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT
When: 6 p.m.
Where: Loafer View Recreational Complex
What: Registration is $150 per team and runs from July 3 to Aug. 4; register online at www.salemcity.org or at the Recreation Office. Teams registered for the fall season can register for only $100. There will be two divisions: open and family.
LITTLE BUCKAROO RODEO

SENIOR DINNER
When: 5:30-7 p.m.
Where: Salem Civic Center
What: Salem residents aged 62 and older can enjoy a night out filled with food, live entertainment and prizes. Admission is free and there is no RSVP.
Friday, Aug. 11
GOLF TOURNAMENT
When: 1 p.m.
Where: Gladstan Golf Course
What: Celebrate Salem Days on the green with a game of Four Person Scramble. Registration costs $55 per person or $220 for teams and can be completed online or at the Salem Recreation office.
COED SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT
When: 6 p.m.
Where: Loafer View Recreational Complex
FAIR IN THE SQUARE
When: 6-9 p.m.
Where: Veteran Ball Park
What: There will be food and craft vendors opening at 6 p.m. with a performance by The Fab Folk following at 7:30 p.m.
CHILDREN’S PARADE
When: 6:15 p.m.
Where: The parade starts at 30 N. 100 E. then runs north on Main Street and turns right on center street to the ballpark.
CONCERT IN THE PARK
When: 7:30-9 p.m.
Where: Veterans Ballpark
What: The Fab Folk, an acoustic Beatles tribute band, will be performing this year. Their music has a folk flair and is inspired by artists like Bon Ivar and The Shins.

FAMILY FUN RUN
When: 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.
Where: Knoll Park/Salem Pond
What: The one-mile run begins at 7, and the 5K begins at 7:30. There will be cash prizes awarded to the winners and awards given to every age division. Register online or through Salem City Recreation.
BREAKFAST IN THE PARK
When: 7-9 a.m.
Where: Knoll Park Pavilion
GRAND PARADE
When: 10 a.m.
Where: Knoll Park to Downtown Ballpark

QUILT SHOW
When: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Where: Main Street Church
What: Quilt submissions are due Thursday, Aug. 10 at Gracie Lou’s.
PHOTO CONTEST
When: 11 a.m. ¬ 2 p.m.
Where: Veterans Ballpark
What: Local photographers can submit up to two photos to Salem City Recreation until Tuesday, Aug. 8. The photos must be of Salem City or the surrounding counties and include only scenery, no people; they must be 8×10 matte in a clear sleeve with the registration form. Registration forms are online at www.salemcity.org.
CAR SHOW/FAIR IN THE SQUARE
When: 11 a.m.- 3 p.m.
Where: Veterans Ballpark
What: Registration to participate in the car show begins at 8:30 a.m. and costs $15. There will be music, food and crafts available.
