Jenny Oaks Baker, Dallyn Bayles join Utah Valley Symphony for Orem concert
Renowned artists Jenny Oaks Baker and Family Four, Dallyn Vail Bayles, and the Utah Valley Symphony will perform next week at the SCERA as part of Orem Summerfest.
Baker, a Grammy-nominated violinist and Juilliard School graduate, has released 14 studio albums in the last 20 years and has performed and collaborated with artists including the National Symphony, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Gladys Knight. Baker often performs with Family Four, her children, known for their YouTube music videos, including “Copland Rock Suite” and a “Sound of Music” medley.
Bayles is an actor, singer and recording artist known for performing with Broadway touring groups of “The Phantom of the Opera” and “Les Misérables,” as well as playing prominent roles in several productions of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including that of Hyrum Smith in 2005 film “Joseph Smith: The Prophet of the Restoration.”
The Utah Valley Symphony was organized nearly 60 years ago as a nonprofit group with the aim to provide an outlet for local talent and bring the community symphony music. Utah Valley University professor Bryce Rytting is the symphony’s conductor, and the group includes members of all ages and musical backgrounds.
The concert will take place Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre, 699 S. State St., Orem.
