Mom cut the crusts off your sandwiches, chopped your vegetables and resisted the urge to scream when you chose cold cereal over the pork she roasted for eight hours. Repay all that motherly magnanimity — and much, much more — by taking your lovely lady out for Mother’s Day brunch. (No entrees for her to cook! No dishes for her to wash!) There are options for both Saturday and Sunday dining over Mother’s Day weekend. Although it may seem early to be thinking Mother’s Day in April, the following three brunch locations typically sell out. Make your reservations as soon as possible to ensure a great seat.

Harvest Restaurant

If you’d prefer to brunch on Saturday — instead of Mother’s Day Sunday — Harvest Restaurant has an impressive spread. The brunch will feature assorted pastries and artisan breads, domestic and imported cheeses, berries and fruits, Iced Gulf Shrimp, hand-carved meats, traditional breakfast items, composed and fresh salads, and house-made desserts. After you’ve eaten, walk off the too-many-to-think-about calories with a trip through the venue’s stunning, 55-acre gardens. (There is a separate admission price.)

Where: Harvest Restaurant, Thanksgiving Point, 3003 N. Thanksgiving Way, Lehi

When: Saturday, May 12, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Price: $28.95 adults, $14.95 children 4-11, free 3 and younger

Reservations: (801) 768-4990

Sundance Resort

At Sundance Resort, you can get in touch with Mother Earth on Mother’s Day amid the stunning scenery in Provo Canyon. The buffet has dishes such as Poached Eggs over Portobello Hash with Hollandaise Sauce, buttermilk  pancakes, omelets and eggs made to order, Teriyaki Roasted Loin of Pork, Tofu Jalfrezzi with Quinoa, Blackened Chicken Caesar Salad with Chipotle Vinaigrette, and Chorizo and Green Chile Macaroni and Cheese. There’s also a carving station with slow-roasted prime rib, and a “dessert extravaganza” featuring tortes, tarts, truffles and more.

Where: The Tree Room and Foundry Grill, Sundance Resort, North Fork of Provo Canyon

When: Sunday, May 13, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Prices: $44.95 adults, $19.95 for children ages 6-12, free for 5 and younger

Reservations: (801) 223-4220

Etc.: If you prefer, there is also a Mother’s Day lunch at the Redford Center with a similar menu from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The price is $38.95 for adults, $19.95 for children ages 6-12, free for kids 5 and younger.

 The Grand America Hotel

The stately Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City is famous throughout the state for its decadent Sunday brunch. On Mother’s Day, The Grand America will feature traditional brunch items — think fruits and cheeses, French toast, Eggs Benedict, Belgian waffles — as well as seafood, roasts and sushi. At press time, the hotel was still finalizing its menu, but offerings at the similar Easter brunch included Spring Herb Brined Cornish Game Hens with Lemon Thyme Roasted Chicken Jus, eggs made to order, and Blueberry Farmers Cheese Blintzes with Blueberry Gastrique. There is also a dessert buffet, and a children’s buffet with menu items catering to kids.

Where: The Grand Ballroom at The Grand America, 555 S. Main St., Salt Lake City

When: Sunday, May 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Prices: $55 adults, $27.50 children ages 5-12, free children 4 and younger

Reservations: (801) 258-6807

Etc: The hotel will offer complimentary family photos during the brunch, and there will be a potting station in the Courtyard where children can decorate a pot and plant a flower for their mothers.

Starting at $4.32/week.
