Breakfast means comfort food at its best. Warm pancakes, crispy bacon and hearty oatmeal are just a few of the things that keep us coming back for more of the most important meal of the day. But why let the morning have all the fun? We scoped out six places in the valley where you can have your breakfast and eat it for dinner.

Callie’s Café

This homestyle café has a Western atmosphere and a breakfast menu to write home about. Regulars rave about Callie’s Killer Hash browns — hash browns with ham, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, onions and bell peppers topped with country gravy and cheese. Another café favorite is the Pitcher’s Mound — biscuits, hash browns, eggs, sausage and country gravy and cheese. No matter what you choose from the menu, it’s guaranteed to be home cooked and hearty.

One Man Band

This retro diner’s menu covers everything from hearty country fried steak and biscuits and gravy to south-of-the-border options like Huevos Rancheros and a breakfast burrito. If you’re craving something simpler and healthier, try the heart-healthy oatmeal served with milk, brown sugar and toast. Once you make a choice from One Man Band’s 18 breakfast menu items, just pick up the phone at your booth and place your order. If you’re looking for more than a meal, head to One Man Band on the first Tuesday of the month (beginning in April) for a classic car show.

Savory and Sweet

This new spot serves gourmet pasta, desserts and crepes. Savory and Sweet’s all-day breakfast menu includes sweet and savory crepes, the S&S Breakfast Special (eggs, sausage, ham, potatoes and a crepe or waffle) and the Double-Decker Waffle.

Cracker Barrel

Cracker Barrel’s menu items are made from scratch throughout the day and currently include seasonal specials like the Sweet Potato Pancake Breakfast and the Wholesome Mornin’ Sampler (yogurt, berries and granola served with a freshly baked muffin, eggs and breakfast meat). Cracker Barrel is famous for its hash brown casserole, fried apples, biscuits and gravy, grits and Momma’s Pancake Breakfast: Three buttermilk pancakes with eggs, fruit topping or pure maple syrup and your choice of breakfast meat.

CLOSED: The Awful Waffle

This little red waffle shop, located at the south side of the Brigham Young University campus, was started by a young married couple who lived in Belgium. While there, they purchased their supplies, gathered some authentic recipes and headed back to Provo to show us what a real Belgian waffle is all about. Just choose your base: The original cinnamon Brussels waffle, a vanilla Liege waffle, a Dutch Stroopwaffle with a caramel center or a French crepe. As for toppings, you’ll have your work cut out for you. Choose from fresh fruits (hand-cut every 30 minutes), sauces like caramel cream syrup and cream cheese frosting and specialty toppings like homemade whipped cream, lemon and sugar or shredded coconut, to name a few.

Magleby’s Fresh

Most Utah Valley locals know about the famous Magleby’s French toast and buttermilk syrup. What you may not know is that it recently started serving breakfast all day. If it’s the French toast you’re after, consider the French Toast Platter: six half slices of cinnamon French toast topped with caramelized strawberries and bananas, whipped cream and buttermilk syrup. Or, go the all-you-can-eat route with French toast or pancakes. The menu also includes three varieties of omelets, a breakfast burrito, a plate of fresh seasonal fruit with cream and freshly squeezed orange juice.
