Lokal’s
Sports fans take note: The new Lokal’s restaurant in Saratoga Springs is destined to be a hit. Lokal’s is a great place to watch a game — with eight different TVs and a giant screen scattered throughout the building. The sports theme carries over to the menu, with delicious items such as NFL Nachos, the humongous Booyah Burger, the Half Time BLT, the All In Tortilla Chicken Salad, finger-sucking good wings and more.

Taqueria el Vaquero
You may not be wowed by the decor or the furnishings at Taqueria el Vaquero in Provo, but the food is worth saddling up for. On the taco front, you can order just about every kind of cooked meat that’s ever been spooned into a warm corn tortilla. Which is how they roll at Taqueria el Vaquero: You get two small corn tortillas per taco, along with enough meat that you can more than satisfactorily turn each 99-cent taco into two 49.5-cent tacos. There’s an excellent salsa bar to help you garnish your taco as you see fit, and the menu also includes tortas (a sort of taco sandwich served on thick, hearty bread), sopes (a tostada-like flatbread dish) and huge quesadillas and burritos.

Slate
Slate offers a dining experience quite unlike any we’ve previously encountered locally. The singular vibe begins even before you enter the restaurant, located inside the Provo Marriott. It almost requires a double or triple take just to realize where the restaurant is. (Hint: It is beyond a wide open “great room” separating the lobby from the restaurant.) We loved everything we sampled here, from the Smoked Bacon Cheddar Dip, Beer Battered Onion Rings and Mountain Scones to the Barbecue Chicken Flatbread, Roasted Turkey BLT sandwich and the Cedar Plank Trout. Also, be sure to try the Triple Berry Lemonade and several yummy dessert options. Everything at Slate turned out to be just right.
