La Fountain Mexican Restaurant

Whether you call it La Fountain (as does the sign outside) or La Fuente (as does the menu and website address), there’s no debating that this is a Mexican restaurant with a bevy of house specialties, appetizers and combos that one would expect to encounter in a south-of-the-border dining experience. Our hands-down favorite — and we didn’t put our hands down until we were finished with it — was the chicken and steak fajitas. We especially enjoyed the warm, extremely thick flour tortillas that came with it. The whole thing was made even more delicious by adding a side of tasty guacamole. We also sampled the chicken enchiladas and chimichanga, which delivered standard Mexican goodness. A nice place for a Mexican meal, no matter what you call it.

Big Al’s Texas BBQ

The saying that everything is bigger in Texas probably played a role in the naming of this restaurant. We definitely found Big Al’s to be big on taste while only having an average effect on our wallet. We heartily endorse many of the starters and sides, as they were some of the favorite items we sampled. The main meats, of course, weren’t bad either. Our favorite was the smoked sausage, and we also enjoyed the ribs and wings. The Big Al’s Fully Loaded Salad was exactly as advertised — fully loaded. We also suggest the Texas Wrap. Be sure to check out the “Necktie Party” board.
