It’s an impressive thing to win a Grammy, but even more impressive when you have five under your belt. That’s right, Victor Wooten is a five-time Grammy-winning musician, and he is bringing his unique and highly successful brand of music to Salt Lake City on Monday in an 8 p.m. concert at The State Room, located at 638 S. State St.

Wooten will perform two sets of music with his band as they tour in support of their recent CD releases. The group includes performances by Wooten (vocals/guitar/cello/electric, upright and tenor basses), as well as J. D. Blair (vocals/drums), Anthony Wellington (vocals/bass/keyboards), Krystal Peterson (vocals/drums/keyboards), Steve Bailey (vocals/bass/keyboards/trombone), Dave Welsch (vocals/bass/keyboards/trumpet) and Derico Watson (vocals/drums).

For most artists, it’s a challenge to hold on to one instrument, but for this band, it’s the norm not to. In line with Wooten’s manner of musical innovation, the group will play multiple instruments during songs in both choreographed and improvised actions that display their high caliber of musicianship.
