Wild Mustang Grill & Bakery

A healthy appetite and a hankering for many Western and American favorites are the only real prerequisites to dining at Wild Mustang Grill & Bakery, which took over the building that previously housed McGrath’s Fish House in Orem, just off the I-15, University Parkway interchange. There were many tempting menu options to choose from. We loved the Wild West Wings, for example, as an appetizer. For entrees, we recommend the Stuffed Atlantic Salmon (which featured spinach and artichoke), the SkyFire Southwestern Salad (piled high in a pyramid shape with a bevy of ingredients) and the Meat Lovers Pizza. The french fries and Tomato Basil Soup were also excellent. And be sure to save some room for a slice of one of the myriad flavors of Croshaw’s Gourmet Pies.

Emanuel’s Fresh Grill

Emanuel’s Fresh Grill in Provo has great tacos — just ask singer and songwriter Sam Payne — and plenty of other good Mexican food. We especially enjoyed the Chicken Fajita Salad on a recent visit, which has a great mix of ingredients, including rice, black beans and avocado slices, to go with its excellent, savory strips of grilled chicken breast. There are also great deals on combo plates at Emanuel’s, including the Enchiladas Verdes plate and the Chimichanga Plate (the shredded beef and crisp, flaky tortilla shell with the chimi are heavenly).
