Melty Way

There are no less than 17 different variations on the menu at Melty Way, the brand new diner in American Fork that seems built on the premise that there is next to nothing that wouldn’t taste great in a grilled cheese sandwich. We sampled several grilled cheese sandwiches during a recent visit, and the hands-down, mouth-open favorite was the Turkey and Bacon. Other favorites included The Classic (standard cheddar cheese), The Hawaiian (pepper jack cheese, ham, and pineapple preserves) and The Italian (tomatoes, basil pesto, and both fresh and whole milk mozzarella). Why, the kids menu even features a Grilled PB&J — seriously, how cool is that? The Tomato Basil and Ravolini soups were delicious, and the ice cream sandwiches (ice cream between a pair of fresh-baked cookies) were divine. A great place for the whole family.

Flipside Cafe

Having a hard time deciding whether you want an intimate date night or just a healthy casual dining experience? Turns out you can get both at Flipside Cafe in American Fork. Throughout most of the month, Flipside Cafe offers a wide selection of sandwiches, soups, gourmet salads and a few grilled specialties. The twist, though, is what put the Flip in Flipside. One evening a month, the restaurant closes its doors to regular traffic, takes a break from its regular menu and instead offers an elaborate three- or five-course meal during two reservation-only sessions. The cafe also serves breakfast. Check it out!

Laura’s Kitchen

At Laura’s Kitchen in Provo, you can get more tacos for your money on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, when the price is $0.99 instead of $1.50. It’s something to consider if you enjoy taqueria-style tacos, with corn tortillas, fresh fixings at the salsa bar, and authentic Mexican meats: asada (beef), carnitas (pork), chorizo (chicken) and pastor (pork) and more. There’s even tripe (beef stomach) and lengua (beef tongue), if that’s how you roll. Laura’s also offers many other Mexican favorites on an everyday basis, including torta and tostadas, and has an expanded menu of weekends, with enchiladas, sopes, tamales, pozole and more.
