Big Bones Barbecue

This Spanish Fork restaurant is a great place to take the whole family. Service was friendly and the owners greeted several customers by name, giving the restaurant a down-home family vibe. The various barbecued meats were, of course, a highlight of the visit — especially the ribs tips, barbecue chicken and the Texas Teaser sandwhich — but we found ourselves enthralled with the unique and tasty sides. For example, we could have made a whole meal out of the corn nuggets, which featured sweet corn in a creamed mixture inside of a nugget. We also enjoyed the BBQ beans, the cole slaw and the fresh french fries.

Dawgs & More

The best way to stand out from the hot dog horde is probably in what goes into your buns along with the fairly standard 100 percent all-beef franks. In that regard, Dawgs & More has an impressive array of secret weapons, including macaroni and cheese, avocados, mango salsa, peanut mustard, cole slaw and more. There are lots of dogs to try, and Dawgs & More has a couple of solid options for indecisive eaters. There are breakfast burritos for the morning commuter, or hearty nachos for a lazy afternoon. Our very favorite thing on the menu is something called a “beli,” filled with either pulled pork (with cole slaw and baked beans) or Sloppy Joe filling (with cole slaw).
