I’ve officially found the perfect way to win over friends and coworkers! Want to know my secret? It’s a pretty simple, three-step process.

Step 1: Bring in a box of freshly made doughnuts.

Step 2: Place that box of freshly made doughnuts on your desk with an open invitation.

Step 3: Watch the faces of your coworkers light up as they pick their favorite from a variety of enticing delights.

My experiment, recently conducted on a dreary, overcast Wednesday morning, was a thorough success! Doughnuts are a sure way to brighten anyone’s day.

When contemplating where to shop for that tempting box of doughnuts, I remembered that Payson recently welcomed its very own doughnut bakery — The Donut Hole. Located adjacent to the freeway entrance on my route to work, the new bakery made for a quick stop on my way into the office.

Walking into the shop I was instantly greeted with a display case filled with freshly baked goodies — fritters, maple bars, glazed, chocolate frosted, crullers, Boston cream or jelly filled, croissants, cookies, brownies and more. What I didn’t see in the case, but what was being baked in the back room, was the cake doughnut selection which includes flavors like sour cream old fashioned, devil’s food cake and more. This was clearly the place to calm any morning sweet tooth craving.

Time to pick the doughnuts. One of everything sounded great, actually. After all, I had varying taste buds to appeal to with my officemates, right?

I was especially intrigued with the brightly colored decorations on two of the doughnut offerings. Turns out the traditional glazed doughnuts were topped with Fruity Pebbles and crushed Cap’n Crunch’s Crunch Berries breakfast cereals. Again, a quick cure to that nagging sweet tooth. Along with the doughnut variety, The Donut Hole also offers a variety of hot drinks to accompany those sweets, everything from espresso to flavored coffees to my personal favorite, chai tea. There is also a cooler filled with your favorite soda, milk or even power drink of choice. Perhaps a Diet Coke to balance out the sweetness of a fritter? Sounded perfect to me.

The Donut Hole also sells breakfast sandwiches, served warm on your choice of biscuit or croissant. I couldn’t resist trying the Bacon, Egg and Cheese Croissant sandwich. Flaky and fresh, the sandwich was a great tasty way to start off my morning.

As for that box of doughnuts, they were a huge success, rapidly being picked off by now-happy coworkers. Mission accomplished!
