Four women and a lunch hour to burn; what could be greater? Throwing in a cool venue, delicious grub, and helpful staff can turn even the great into fantastic!

That was the Lunch Ladies’ recent experience trying out Marley’s Gourmet Sliders at the Riverwoods Mall in Provo.

It was a new adventure for all four of us, and none of us quite knew what to expect. We had first heard of Marley’s via Instagram and its often comical posts, with a superimposed smiling slider found throughout many pop-culture photos. Being intrigued, we decided to take a walk on the wild side and give the Harley-themed restaurant a try.

We headed on up to the Riverwoods, with the crisp Fall breeze blowing through our hair, and “Born to Be Wild” playing in our minds. The decorative restaurant had so much character that our eyes couldn’t stop dancing around the small space, taking in all the fun wonders, well-displayed to captivate patrons.

Bikes, signs, patches, matchbox cars, oversized booths, and themed fixtures were just a few of the items well utilized to create the unique ambience. Eventually focusing in on the menu, we headed up to the counter to place our orders. Because of the many menu options and being newbies, we took advantage of the helpful staff who were ready to answer our questions.

Here is how we fared:

Jennette: Rickster Slider $2.99, Combo $3.25 (Onion Rings and a Drink)

I’m new to this hip slider thing so my big question today was how many sliders to get. I asked the guy behind the counter what most people order and he gave me the rundown of the different options available. If you’re really hungry get four sliders, if you’re just hungry, then try two or even one and a side. He said most people go with the option of two sliders. I decided to try some onion rings, so I went with one slider and a side. Good decision. The Rickster Slider burger came with bacon, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato and a blue-cheese spread. It was delicious! The onion rings were light and crispy and not greasy, very yummy. They don’t serve Diet Coke, just Pepsi products.

Sylvia: Wild Hog Pulled Pork Salad $7.99

Marley’s is one cool lunch spot, with the fortune teller just outside the door, tables with loads of interesting treasures visible just below the glass top, and neat stuff all over the walls. I love joints like this. And the guy behind the counter was super patient as we made our big life decisions — menu wise. I opted for the Signature Wild Hog Salad; it came with a generous portion of pulled pork mixed with the yummiest of barbecue sauces served on top of mixed greens. There was some bitter green in there that was delish, bacon crumbles, diced tomatoes, avocado, diced onions, and shredded cheese. I topped it with the ranch dressing, which I’m pretty sure was infused with avocado and cilantro, and added blue cheese crumbles for 49 cents, ’cause for me, barbecue and blue cheese just work. Thanks, Marley’s for a great lunch hour.

Lyndsi: The Classic Slider $2.89, Chicken Slider $2.99, Fries $1.99

Making decisions on what to eat at a restaurant can be hard sometimes, especially when you want to try everything! The advantage of making slider sandwiches is that people get to try more than one of your delicious sandwiches in one sitting. So when we went to Marley’s for lunch, I chose two sandwiches to accompany my delicious shoestring French fries. I went with The Classic, which is a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup and mayo. I also tried the breaded chicken sandwich which was topped with lettuce, tomato, onion and fry sauce. The burger was great, but I was surprised to love the small chicken sandwich as much as I did. Also, the French fries were cooked to perfection and delicious with fry sauce. This is a great stop for lunch with many options so everyone can find something to enjoy.

Gabby: Harlista Fajita Steak Salad $8.49

My new favorite salad! Done deal! A bed of mixed greens, tomatoes, avocado, green and red peppers, grilled onions, crumbled blue cheese, all contrasting extremely tender, flavorful, steak. Top it off with tortilla chips and a distinct house ranch, and you have quite the winner! The onions were perfectly cooked, pliable, and tasty. The blue cheese was bold, but not overpowering, and the peppers and avocado were fresh and a great accent to round out the fajita flavors. I loved the unique creamy ranch; it was a perfect finisher to complete the meal. This salad delivered on all counts; it was plentiful, palate pleasing, and worth its price!

Much like the adventurous spirit of the open road, which Marley’s strives to embody, the Lunch Ladies had branched out and experienced something brand new this lunch hour. And boy, were we glad we did! We relaxed in the delightful decor, we valued the great customer service, and most of all, we loved our appetizing meals!
