Disney Junior’s popular little princess “Sofia the First” has a new DVD with four fun episodes featuring all the magic and enchantment of Enchancia. Sofia is a beloved little princess, or as she is sometimes referred to, a princess-in-training, who has empathy and love for all.

In “The Secret Library,” Sofia’s Aunt Tilly returns to Enchancia and opens a whole new world to the little princess. She shows her a hidden room in the castle, which is filled with unfinished books. Sofia is tasked to be the keeper of the stories and when summoned, she is to give each story a happy ending.

For her first book she selects a story about her horse Minimus’s brother, who was taken by a selfish princess. Now Sofia and Minimus must rescue the horse and give him back his freedom. As with many of the Sofia episodes, she is visited by another Disney Princess to guide her in her endeavors. This time Merida comes to give advice to her fellow princess.

Another episode on this disc, “The Secret Library: Olaf and the Tale of Miss Nettle,” includes yet another encounter with the library. This time she learns about the story of Freezenburg, where her friend Hildegard lives. This is a frozen land void of color, until a gardener was tasked to find a flower that would grow in this snowy kingdom. He brought back a beautiful flower they called the Snow Drop, but when the kingdom is preparing for its annual festival, it is discovered all the flowers in the kingdom are gone.

Sofia learns that the wicked fairy Miss Nettle is taking all the flowers and in an encounter with her she broke Sofia’s amulet that allows her to talk to animals and to summon other princesses for guidance. With the amulet gone awry, it summons Olaf, the little snowman who loves warm hugs. After all, he is familiar with snow, isn’t he? And he is familiar with the kindness and understanding that Anna has for her sister Elsa’s magic powers. Together they discover the true reason behind Miss Nettle’s actions and with Sofia’s understanding, the situation is changed for everyone’s satisfaction — even Miss Nettle’s.

“The Princess Adventure Club” is a story about friendship. When Princess Zooey begins schooling at Royal Prep, she desperately desires friends. So Sofia suggests she start The Princess Adventure Club, since Zooey has had countless adventures before coming to Royal Prep. But Amber comes between Sofia and Zooey, making for an awkward situation for the little princess. What they ultimately learn is that working together is much better than working against each other.

The final episode on the disc is “The Princess Ballet” in which Royal Prep is planning the school’s Arts Night to show all the students’ talents to the royal parents. Princess Kari is supposed to dance a ballet with Sofia and Amber, but she is a kind of a klutz and feels embarrassed, especially since her mother was a great ballerina when she was her age. But eventually the situation is resolved and Kari shows everyone that there is more than one way to dance, and as long as she does her best, she doesn’t have to be perfect.

Included in this DVD box is a necklace for young girls to wear and pretend they are magical princesses like Sofia. “Sofia the First” is a beloved show and Sofia is one of the most popular little princesses in the Disney kingdom. People have often asked me why the show is so attractive to kids. I think there are several reasons. First, Sofia didn’t have to marry a prince to become a princess. And she didn’t have to be born into royalty as her mother married a king. Second, she is young and still learning about life. And third, she is filled with joy and love and above all, compassion for everyone. And let’s not forget that quite often other popular Disney princesses visit her. All of these elements make “Sofia the First” a popular series on Disney Junior.
