The Bacon Cheeseburger Combo was Janell's meal of choice at Burgers Supreme in Provo.

One of the first lunches I remember eating with my coworkers from the Daily Herald was at none other than Burgers Supreme.

Being only a hop, skip and a jump away from our old office building, it was a regular dining choice for not only the original Lunch Ladies, the great substitute reviewers, and the fantastic successors, but it was also loved by many of our dear friends as well.

Burgers Supreme is really where it all began. And, sadly, where the Lunch Ladies must come to an end as well.

Carole King said it well when she sang, “So far away. Doesn’t anybody stay in one place anymore?” Unfortunately, not usually. I recently finished my Master’s Degree and am headed to the East Coast and a new chapter of life.

So after three years of quoting song lyrics, referencing sports, and paying tribute to all our quirky interests from K-Pop to Salvador Dali and March Madness, it is time for the Lunch Ladies to bid our readers a fond farewell with one last review.

We found it only fitting to head over to Burgers Supreme one last time and indulge in its savory goodness. We made our way to this very hopping, but luckily efficient, lunch spot and were immediately greeted by the amazing aromas of flame-broiled burgers, onion rings, fries and all around sweet deliciousness. With stomachs growling, we got in line and made our way to the counter.

Here is what your Lunch Ladies enjoyed:

Janell: Bacon Cheeseburger Combo $8.49

Comfort, peace, friends, laughter, great conversations and great food. These are the things that come to mind when I think about Burgers Supreme. When we went to lunch the other day, I chose to get the bacon cheeseburger. I really like the thick meaty bacon that they have at Burger Supreme. My fries were crispy and hot, topped off with a crisp coke and dripping fry sauce. It was the best comfort food of the week. When you have those days that you just need something familiar and you want to spend time with your friends, but you do not want to sacrifice food quality, Burgers Supreme is the place you need to go.

Jennette: Gyro Sandwich Combo with Onion Rings $9.50

I tend to be a creature of habit and love to eat at places that are familiar and that I know the food will taste great. That is how I feel about Burgers Supreme. This is one of my go-to restaurants for the days when I need a little extra comfort because of a stressful day. I love that it feels like walking into a family kitchen where everyone knows you and is sincere when asking how you are doing. Today, is one of those days when I needed a little extra comfort so, I decided to get my favorite meal, the gyro sandwich. The gyro might be something that you are a little hesitant to sample, but you should give it a try. The pita flat bread is served with lamb, tomato, onion and tzatziki sauce. Today I added some onion rings, because they smelled delicious when I walked in, and a Diet Coke.

Gabby: Bacon Cheeseburger Combo $8.49 + Gluten-Free Bun $1.00

Burgers Supreme definitely grills up one of my favorite hamburgers of all time! I love the crisp, thick bacon, that actually tastes like bacon opposed to some fast food options that are paper thin and really don’t do the proud name of “bacon” justice. I love the flame-broiled hamburger and its mouthwatering tastiness. The steak fries offered here are some of the best in the business! And I think I’ll miss you most of all, fry sauce! I haven’t experienced its equal, and I think I might just have to hoard some and pack it away for my move. Just sayin’. My meal was excellent, and being able to order a gluten-free bun was, of course, a definite perk. I topped off my meal with some light lemonade which always makes my day when that is one of the offered fountain beverages. Such a wonderful combination of freshly made flavors and food, that I felt like I was at a backyard summer BBQ.

Writing this column has been an adventure. Over the last three years, we have tried so many great restaurants in Utah County. Some have surprised us, some have wowed us, and some have been the welcoming blanket on a rough day. A big thank you to all the great locales, which just like Burgers Supreme, deliver great food, fantastic customer service, and make Utah County home. I will definitely miss frequenting you on a regular basis, but I will unquestionably come back and visit. And a huge thank you to all our kind readers who have read our many ramblings, given us fun ideas and feedback, and shared in the journey with us one review at a time. Keep chowing down, Lunch Ladies’ style!
