The ‘What Say Ye?’ podcast: ‘The Last Descent’ actors discuss Nutty Putty Cave tragedy

By Court Mann & Derrick Clements - | Sep 19, 2016

“The Last Descent” is a heavy film. That’s unavoidable, given its real-life subject matter: John Jones died more than 100 feet deep in Nutty Putty Cave, west of Utah Lake, in 2009 after getting stuck while hiking. Rescue crews could communicate with him, but they couldn’t get him out. Jones left behind a wife and young daughter. The new film by local filmmaker Isaac Halasima retells the story. In Episode 10 we talk with three of the film’s actors — Chadwick Hopson, who plays John; Alexis Johnson, who plays John’s wife, Emily; and Landon Henneman, who plays Aaron, a rescuer who spent significant time with John — about tackling such an unavoidably tragic story.
