Find your own favorite pie at SLABPizza in Lehi
When it comes to ordering pizza, forget about trying to decide whether to get a personal, small, medium or large. Make it easy on yourself and just go for a Slab.
We’ve had our eyes on the SLABPizza location ever since it opened in Lehi. We finally found an opportunity to check it out this past weekend.
For those new to the concept, Slab pizzas are essentially one-quarter of a 20-inch pizza. Prices range from $5 (Traditional) in escalating $1 increments up to $8 (Super Duper Premium Pies) per Slab.
While ordering a Slab simplifies the choosing-a-size process, figuring out what to put on the Slab is a mouth-watering difficult process — just from a standpoint of so many options sounding like a great combination. In this case, members of our family crew have a wide range of disparate tastes ranging from exotic to extremely simple (or “picky” as it might best be described). To that end, SLABPizza is perfect in that everyone can order a Slab of their choosing rather than having one or two children picking off the olives and pepperoni — and everything but the cheese, basically — to simplify their fare down to its most basic elements.
I opted for the Thai Chicken in the Premium category and I couldn’t have been happier with the selection. I was won over just looking at the list of ingredients — peanut sauce, Thai chicken, green onion, red pepper and cilantro — and those tastes were all perfectly complementary.
My daughter Brighton went for the Chicken Club (a Super Premium choice) and this was my second favorite pie. It featured red sauce, chicken, bacon, red onion, romaine lettuce and ranch, and was downright delicious.
Ranking right up there was my son Cougar and his Super Meat selection (Super Duper Premium). Loaded with ham, sausage, bacon and extra pepperoni, this pizza is a carnivore’s delight.
Among the simpler choices — I’m looking at you Nevada and Cruise — were Traditional Cheese and Cheese Bread. Both of these were basic — and basically delicious.
We’d be remiss not to mention that there are a selection of salads available as well. Several sounded great, but we sampled the Chile Verde. It features a bowl of romaine lettuce and includes cilantro ranch dressing, chile verde, salsa and cilantro. A great overall choice.
Service was quick and friendly, and the restaurant was sleek and clean with seating for just under 100. Our only complaint was the frequent fingernails-on-a-chalkboard sound of chairs scraping on cement, which seemed to be amplified in the confines of the restaurant.
But if you’re hankering for some great pizza with a bevy of options for you to choose from, then you should definitely grab a Slab.
