Looking for low-key, fairly inexpensive dining experience? If so, Glazed Teriyaki Grill in American Fork may be right for you.

Glazed Teriyaki Grill is situated in a small, somewhat nondescript strip mall in American Fork. The restaurant itself is quite small. There was an occupancy sign listing capacity at 44 people, however, there was only seating in place for around 25.

The menu was written on a large chalkboard along a side wall and orders are placed at the front counter. The cashier was extremely nice and helpful, and she was quick to answer any questions we had regarding the menu offerings.

The restaurant, which has been open for three months, was painted in neon green and bright red colors. Items are cooked right near the front counter, and it didn’t take very long before we had our meals at our table.

One section of the menu includes Raw Poke Bowls. You choose your base of greens or white rice, which are then covered with your choice of uncooked tuna, spicy tuna, salmon and spicy salmon. My family is not big on uncooked fish, so we passed on the Poke Bowls, but online reviews of them have been very favorable.

The other main menu section is Teriyaki Plates, offered with various combinations of meat and vegetables. They are also available in combo selections of any two or three offerings. The Teriyaki Plates offer a choice of white rice or noodles base, and a selection of chicken, beef, shrimp, salmon, white meat, tofu and vegetable toppings.

Intrigued by a seafood theme, I ordered the two-item combo featuring salmon and shrimp over white rice. It was fabulous. The salmon was a hefty piece, even bigger than I would have anticipated, and it and the shrimp were glazed and grilled to perfection.

My wife also ordered a two-item combo with beef and chicken. I sampled that and it was also very good and an excellent value for its price.

The kids meal is also a value for $4.98, and our 10-year-old was sufficiently filled with his choice of noodles, beef, chicken and gyoza.

We also ordered a side of gyoza, which comes with five of the delicious Japanese dumplings, pan-fried to a just-right crispiness to the outer shell.

We visited in the latter part of a Friday night shift, and the pace was pretty casual in that there were only a few other parties who came in during the hour we were there. I imagine things pick up a bit during the main lunch and dinner hours, but definitely come expecting a low-key, casual dining experience.
