In a world that is all too often hectic and full of stress, The Terrace at Hobble Creek is a peaceful retreat tucked away in the beauty and quiet of Hobble Creek Canyon.

The small American restaurant, formerly TimberWolf Grill, is located at Hobble Creek Golf Course, but you don’t have to be a golfer to dine there. In fact, I’d recommend The Terrace as an attraction of its own.

My party of four visited The Terrace for dinner on a particularly busy week for me. I had hoped to get a quick and satisfying bite to eat before rushing off to my next appointment and was grateful to find The Terrace met my brief to a T.

After looking over the menu for a few minutes, we settled on four different entree combos, which each came with fries or chips and a fountain drink, and a salad to share. While we waited for our food, we enjoyed the scenic view of the green golf course and admired the bright, relaxing indoor decor.

I ordered the Terrace Burger, a good-sized cheeseburger served on a lightly toasted bun with bacon, lettuce, tomato and onion, to which I added a little ketchup and mustard.

The beef patty was perfectly cooked, taken off the grill at just the right moment to leave the meat tender and juicy yet fully cooked. This combined with the tantalizing slice of bubbly melted cheese, crisp-yet-soft bacon and fresh vegetables on top honestly made this one of the best hamburgers I’ve ever eaten.

I also tried a bite each of the Tee Dog, Chicken Tenders and Turkey, Bacon, Avocado Wrap, all of which were excellent.

The Polish hot dog we ordered was, as the menu promises, “grilled to perfection,” served on a fresh bun with a condiment bar including onions, jalapeños, banana peppers, pickle spears and the restaurant’s signature sweet Tee Dog Sauce.

I was also a fan of the way the Chicken Tenders had been cooked, leaving a perfectly crispy breaded outer layer. But the meat inside did taste a little dry to me.

The Turkey, Bacon, Avocado Wrap — made of turkey, provolone cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado and sauce wrapped in a soft spinach tortilla — was a tasty blend of fresh ingredients that felt a little more wholesome and refreshing than our other entrees, although perhaps a bit more subtle in flavor.

The Terrace’s fries, served with fry sauce, were also a hit. Our favorite of the two types offered was the Sweet Potato Fries, which we thought were flavorful and perfectly cooked to be a little crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The Natural Cut French Fries were also delicious, albeit a bit too salty for my taste.

The Berry Chicken Salad we ordered was another highlight for me, featuring a perfect fresh and savory-sweet blend of grilled chicken breast, raspberries, blueberries, sweet pepper slices, feta cheese, sliced almonds and berry poppy seed dressing.

We had decided to order the salad to supplement our entree combos, wondering whether we’d be able to get full without it, but I ended up taking most of the salad and some fries home, as The Terrace served good portions of great-quality food that left our stomachs more than satisfied.

We left the restaurant about an hour after we arrived, thankful for the good food and much-needed escape from life’s hustle and bustle provided by The Terrace at Hobble Creek.
