New Blaze Pizza in Orem celebrates opening with free pizza
Orem’s new Blaze Pizza, which opened Thursday, is offering free build-your-own pizzas Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. to customers who follow the brand on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.
The pizza chain, which originated in California in 2012, is known for its open kitchen format, $8 customizable pizzas and open flame oven, which cooks pizzas in three minutes.
“By making dough in-house, using carefully sourced ingredients and cooking by fire, we’re giving guests a great way to enjoy artisanal pizza without the wait,” said Jim Mizes, Blaze Pizza president and CEO.
The new restaurant will create 50 jobs locally and aims to support the Orem community with an in-restaurant fundraiser program that will partner with schools, sports clubs, etc., to give 20 percent of event proceeds back to local organizations.
“The decision to come to the Orem-Provo area was simple,” said Jared Taylor, vice president of operations with Cypress Five Star. “This city is full of innovation, entrepreneurs and is home to two great universities (UVU and BYU). It has been named as one of the top places to live in America and so we are beyond excited to bring Blaze Pizza to the area.”
Orem’s Blaze Pizza aims to support the environment as well, as it was built using recycled and sustainable materials and uses eco-friendly packaging and energy-efficient LED lighting.
The restaurant has gluten-free dough, vegan cheese, animal-rennet-free dairy and tree-nut-free pesto available for customers with special dietary needs. Blaze Pizza is also known for its blood orange lemonade and offers indoor shuffleboard for guests while they wait for their food.
The chain currently has 245 restaurants in 35 states and Canada. The new Orem restaurant is located at 1350 State St., Orem.
