Eating healthy is both fast and fresh at Teriyaki Grill in Lehi.

Our party of four visited the Lehi location of Teriyaki Grill, on Digital Drive, on Saturday afternoon and enjoyed a delicious variety of rice and noodle bowls that sure hit the spot. Teriyaki Grill shows that menu items don’t have to be fancy, they just have to taste great. The fact that the restaurant boasts a healthy, fresh and fast menu combination is a delightful bonus.

One thing we appreciated was how easy the menu was to navigate. There was no five-minutes-standing-at-the-counter-trying-to-figure-out-what-everyone-wants dilemma that we often experience when visiting a new location with our kids in tow.

The first thing you need to decide is what type of meat you want in your bowl. There are four basic choices: steak, shrimp, ginger salmon or chicken (with either teriyaki or spicy variations on the chicken). Rest assured, there are various combinations of those meats available in one bowl as well, should you want a little variety.

The bowls also come with steamed vegetables (carrots, broccoli, pea pods and cabbage), and your choice of steamed white rice, brown rice or noodles, which can also be ordered with a combination of choices as well.

There are also a trio of salads, a couple sushi rolls and a sampling of side dishes (miso soup, edamame, noodles, etc.), and a couple simple dessert items. Our choices seemed easy enough.

We placed our orders and found ourselves a booth. The restaurant was clean and sleek, with seating inside and out for around 55 people. We had barely begun to appreciate the glow of neon green from our table and the walls when our orders arrived. Talk about quick. Literally, it took us a minute to fill up our fountain drinks and get situated before the food showed up.

Wanting to try out a couple different things, I ordered the Steak and Shrimp bowl with a combination of white rice and noodles. The meats are all char-broiled and come with that tasty grilled flavor. Each meal included an accompanying container of house teriyaki sauce, which was fantastic in its own right. (You can also buy a bottle of the sauce and bring the same great flavor home.)

Others in our party opted for separate Teriyaki Chicken and Steak bowls. The grilled steak and chicken turned out to be my two favorite meats of those sampled. Both delivered plenty of flavor, and were great on their own or combined with forkfuls of rice and/or steamed vegetables.

One of my daughters ordered the Vegetarian Delight bowl, and finished the whole thing. It featured the same basic steamed vegetables that come with the meat bowls, just with a greater quantity.

It should be pointed out that patrons can turn up the temperature on offerings to their own individual tastes. There are four different heat option designations: mild, medium, hot and death crier. Being of the mild persuasion, we’re not sure what death crier actually does to your insides, but we imagine it is not dissimilar to the feeling Utah Jazz fans frequently experienced in their stomachs over the past 10 days watching Houston’s James Harden flop around like a freshly caught fish on a boat deck every time somebody happened to touch him during the recent Western Conference Semifinals series.

For dessert, we sampled a delicious rice pudding topped with cinnamon and a homemade Rice Krispie treat. They were a perfect conclusion to our meal.

Teriyaki Grill offers a delicious, healthy alternative for fast food. It’s definitely worth checking out.
