If it can be made with croissant dough, Bianca’s La Petite French Bakery in downtown Provo has probably mastered it.

I was impressed with both the quantity and quality of the shop’s croissant creations and other delightful desserts after sampling several on a recent visit to the bakery with my husband and parents.

Bianca’s La Petite French Bakery is probably best known for its cronuts, which combine croissants and doughnuts in all the best ways with a variety of delicious flavored fillings to boot.

We tried the Strawberry, Nutella and Dulce de Leche Cronuts, all of which I highly recommend. The cronuts were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, and the smooth fillings had just the right amount of flavor to make each bite pop.

Our server told us the Napoleons and Chocolate Croissants are also popular, so we tried one of each. We loved the taste and texture of the Napoleon, which featured a sweet cream between rectangular pastry layers, topped with chocolate. The Chocolate Croissant was also a treat with a good balance of soft pastry and dark chocolate filling.

The bakery is known as well for its Macarons, which are probably the best I’ve ever tasted. The Vanilla, Pistachio and Raspberry Macarons we tried were fresh and had a perfect soft texture and flavor.

Being the chocolate and peanut butter lover I am, I couldn’t resist trying the Peanut Butter Tart when I saw it in the display case, and it did not disappoint. The dessert featured peanut butter cream between layers of soft chocolate cake, topped with a chocolate disc, brownie chunks and peanut butter chips. The sweet tart definitely satisfied my seemingly constant chocolate and peanut butter craving.

We also liked the Chocolate Cream Horn we tried, which contained a smooth chocolate cream surrounded by a crunchy pastry cone, and the Strawberry and Cream Cheese Strudel, made with soft pastry and layers of sweet strawberry jam and cream cheese.

Bianca’s La Petite French Bakery also sells a variety of savory pastries and sandwiches. The shop was out of sandwiches during our visit, but we tried four types of savory croissants: Pepperoni Mozzarella; Bacon, Swiss and Jalapeño; Ham and Swiss Cheese; and Sausage and Cheese.

We loved the buttery, flaky pastry surrounding all of the various savory fillings. The Pepperoni Mozzarella Croissant tasted like a fun French take on pizza. The Bacon, Swiss and Jalapeño Croissant baked a rich and spicy pepper flavor into each bite.

The Ham and Swiss Cheese Croissant was the perfect balance between savory, salty and sweet flavors. And the Sausage and Cheese Croissant featured a well-seasoned sausage surrounded by soft pastry.

We enjoyed every croissant dish and dessert we tried, each of which had something unique and delicious to offer. It seems no matter the pastry, one really can’t go wrong at Bianca’s La Petite French Bakery in Provo.
