Performing group Cirque Italia aims to take viewers back in time with its latest show, “Water Circus Gold,” coming to Provo this weekend.

“Have you ever wished you could turn back time? To go back to a simpler, happy time filled with sock hops, drive-in theaters, muscle cars, and thick sideburns? Well get out your poodle skirts and leather jackets!” reads a press release promoting the act.

Water Circus Gold tells the story of a 1950s-obsessed teen who falls asleep and dreams of living in the era of Elvis Presley and sock hops.

This animal-free show features jugglers, contortionists, wire walkers, trampolines, water elements, a “Wheel of Death” and more. Cirque Italia’s multicultural troupe features performers from all over the world including Argentina, Romania and Brazil.

Cirque Italia was founded by Manuel Rebecchi — the nephew of Moira Orfei, an Italian performer considered by many to be the queen of the circus, and is inspired by the element of water. According to Cirque Italia’s website, the company travels from city to city with a custom-made stage that holds up to 35,000 gallons of water.

Cirque Italia will be pitching its white and blue big-top tent in the Provo Towne Centre parking lot Tuesday, and shows will run from Thursday to Sunday. Tickets will be available for purchase at the tent and range from $10-$50. For show times or to purchase tickets online, visit https://gold.cirqueitalia.com.
