"Father Brown" is streaming now on BritBox.

Fans of the popular British series “Father Brown” can now view season 9 on BritBox. The production was delayed due to the pandemic, however, the wait was worth it. This season is packed with all the fun, levity, mystery and delight it has become known for.

Mark Williams returns as the crime-solving Catholic priest Father Brown. This character has captured the hearts of viewers for years as a dedicated priest who always manages to find himself in the middle of a mystery — usually a murder. The church secretary Mrs. McCarthy (Sorcha Cusack) is right by his side helping to uncover the clues. This woman is plugged into all the gossip in the village and never ceases to relay what she has learned to everyone else, but that doesn’t stop her from insisting she is the soul of discretion.

The police inspector (Jack Deam) usually clashes with Father Brown, but in the end knows that his job is easier with the spiritual leader on the scene. His sergeant (John Burton) realizes they would not have been able to solve many of their cases had it not been for the diligence and intelligence, along with crime-solving instincts, of Father Brown.

Also returning this season are Alex Price as Sid Carter, Nancy Carroll as Lady Felicia, and John Light as Hercule Flambeau.

Father Brown has a unique way of solving the crimes, but he never puts anything above his devotion to the Roman Catholic Church.

In one episode, his potential excommunication only serves to spur him on, to find out why someone reported him for breaking the seal of confession. Everyone knows he would never do that. Yet, someone has it in for him.

In another episode, he stumbles onto a murder at a camp where they are celebrating their anniversary. Who would want to kill the owner of this fun camp? Father Brown fits the pieces together to uncover the mystery of the camp and solve the crime.

“Father Brown” takes place in the sleepy village of Kembleford, a place where everyone knows each other, that overflows with peace and civility. However, there is always a crime or murder that disrupts the calm atmosphere. And Father Brown always finds himself in the middle of the situation. With his calm, soothing demeanor, his cunning intuition and his sense of truth, there is no need for the police to get involved with Father Brown on the case.

The season finale marks the 100th episode of the series. This has been a popular show for years and Father Brown is a delightful character.

Starting at $4.32/week.
