"The Control Room" is streaming now on BritBox.

BritBox’s new 3-part mystery “The Control Room” takes viewers into the twisted world of an emergency operations center where all kinds of drama unfolds. But the drama in this show does not revolve around the incoming calls. It revolves around the dispatch operators stuck between those in danger and first responders.

Gabe (Iain De Caestecker) is good at his job. One day, he takes an incoming call from a woman who says she just killed her boyfriend. While talking to her she calls him “Gabo” — which was his nickname when he was a child. He immediately knows who the woman is, but refuses to admit it to the authorities who begin investigating the alleged murder. Sam (Joanna Vanderham) and Gabe share a past and now they are entwined in a dangerous situation in the present.

Gabe finds himself questioning his duties, as well as his allegiance to his childhood friend with whom he shares a special secret. In the meantime, Gabe’s supervisor Anthony (Daniel Portman) discovers his secret and drags our main character into another secret and dangerous plot.

The show bounces back and forth between scenes from his childhood and the current time as Gabe tries to help his old friend, but is conflicted about what to do. Getting involved in this offense is one thing, but by helping Sam he is now involved in another unscrupulous situation via Anthony, who blackmails him to keep the secret.

In the end, viewers discover nothing is as it seems. Gabe is trapped in a well-crafted plot with circumstances converging to create a drama that has viewers coming back to find out exactly what is going on.

“The Control Room” is streaming on BritBox.
