"Cannes Confidential" is streaming now on AcornTV.

Take off to the South of France with AcornTV’s new romantic/drama, “Cannes Confidential.” The series was filmed entirely on location in Cannes. With the backdrop of this beautiful locale, the story centers on detective Camille Delmasse (Lucie Lucas) and her fellow investigator Lea Robert (Tamara Marthe), along with one rather unusual character, conman Harry King (Jamie Bamber). Just how does Harry, a British man, come into play in Cannes?

Each of the first season’s six episodes includes a murder which the trio investigate and solve. All the while, Camille is trying to get her father Philippe, the former chief of police, out of jail after having been convicted of corruption. Meanwhile, Harry is trying to find someone who has disappeared from his life. But is what viewers see the whole story? As each episode unfolds, the mysteries with Camille and Harry unravel little by little.

And true to form for a crime series with some romance, Harry proves to be the perfect companion for Camille, although at times she is infuriated with his meddling in her cases. Yet, he always seems to be involved and turns up at the scenes. Just who is Harry anyway?

The scenery is exquisite. The lavish lifestyle of Cannes — with the yachts, casino and over-the-top expensive homes and hotels — makes show not only appealing for the stories, but also for the scenery.

Camille is in love with her native city and it shows. She will do whatever it takes to keep the peace. As she zips around in her little blue Fiat, viewers might just think about taking their next vacation in Cannes.

After all, Cannes is a jewel on the French Riviera. With a population of less than a million, although they are the rich and often famous, this is a beautiful city with the Mediterranean Sea to the south and Nice and Monaco to the east.

The six episodes take viewers into some of the lavish buildings in the city. As the sparks fly between Camille and Harry, on occasion, there is a lot to digest as the crimes unfold and secrets are shared.

This is a little departure for Acorn TV because of the setting. Their shows usually take place in the UK, Australia or New Zealand. The creator of the show, Chris Murray, also brought us “Midsomer Murders” and “Agatha Raisin,” two other fun crime dramas. With a touch of comic relief, the show delves into places not usually available for filming.

The first two episodes of “Cannes Confidential” were released last Monday on Acorn TV. Two new episodes will drop weekly through July 10 as we wait for word on season two. Acorn TV is a subscription channel from AMC Networks.
