Brokaw: BYUtv renews ‘Studio C’ for two more seasons

“Studio C” returns this fall for season 17 on BYUtv.

The extremely popular “Studio C” on BYUtv returns this fall for season 17, and season 18 will premiere next spring. As a treat for fans of the show, an hour-long 200th episode will kick off the 18th season featuring 18 past and current cast members.

The show has over two billion –with a “B” — views on YouTube. The sketches in the show are humorous looks at everyday life. This is definitely a family-friendly show that delivers laughs and fun commentary about life today.

“‘Studio C’ remains a fan-favorite series for the whole family more than a decade after its original premiere,” said Andra Johnson Duke, head of content at BYUtv. “Across both the upcoming seasons, nostalgic fans and newcomers alike will enjoy laugh-out-loud spins on the latest pop culture from the hilarious current cast as well as frequent guest appearances from beloved former members of the ‘Studio C’ family. The return of the entire original cast for the 200th episode honors the journey of this enduring series.”

The jewel in the crown for this show will be the 200th hour-long episode with the return of every original cast member. The episode is filled with everything that made the series popular — parodies, sketches and some musical entertainment.

“Combining what made ‘Studio C’ so popular from the beginning with what has helped it live on to become the series it is today is rewarding to be a part of. Highlights for the upcoming seasons include special Halloween and Christmas-themed episodes and a whole new batch of fresh and funny sketches, physical comedy, celebrity impressions and musical pieces,” said showrunner Jake Van Wagoner. “In addition, fans can always count on an amazing lineup of sidesplitting parodies, including ‘Mario Bros.,’ ‘X-Men,’ ‘Harry Potter,’ ‘Indiana Jones,’ ‘Shark Tank,’ ‘Bluey,’ ‘The Little Mermaid,’ ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Stranger Things.'”

“Studio C” is a feel-good show that has garnered attention from all walks of life. With the fun sketches as well as engaging personalities, viewing has become a family event for many families and has won the hearts of all ages of viewers. It has helped to boost the viewership of BYUtv. Since premiering in 2012, viewership of the show and the channel has been steadily gaining popularity, not just in the BYU area but around the country and even the world.
