For more than four decades, the Osmonds have lit up stages across the globe and on television touching the hearts of entertainment lovers worldwide.
Local fans will soon have the opportunity to get an inside look at their family in a musical theater production that has become a smash hit overseas.
On Monday, the Covey Center for the Arts announced in a press release that it will present “The Osmonds: A New Musical” as the show is set to make its North American premiere right in the heart of downtown Provo next March.
The story, written by Jay Osmond, one of the original Osmond Brothers, details the worldwide sensational family singing group as they rose to fame and fortune in the 1970s.
Kicking off their North American leg of the tour in Provo holds significance for Jay Osmond as many of the massive successes and devastating losses that the family encountered took place in Provo. He says it’s the perfect place for the North American premiere of the internationally successful musical.

“There are a lot of reasons why I wanted to start it here in Provo,” Osmond said in the release. “It’s where so much in the musical happened.”
Hits such as “One Bad Apple,” “Yo-Yo” and “Crazy Horses” propelled the Osmonds to popularity, but it was their 1962 television appearance on “The Andy Williams Show” and their subsequent successes with “The Donny and Marie Show” that exposed their talents to a broader audience.
In a 2023 interview with the Daily Herald, Osmond said he had a unique perspective watching the performing family from behind his drum set on stage and watching his siblings in their private lives overcome numerous health and business obstacles.
The musical was written from the heart about the family he knew, Osmond told the Daily Herald. He admitted that while there was a lot of love within his family, things were not always perfect, he added that the musical will give audiences a “behind-the-scenes” look at what the family endured.
The musical has played over 200 performances over the past two years throughout England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales to critical acclaim and hundreds of five-star reviews, according to the release.
However, the Covey Center said they anticipate an even bigger draw to the North American Osmonds premiere as the script has been updated as well as the addition of an award-winning directorial/design team.
Acclaimed Director Timothy Threlfall (former artistic director of Seattle Civic Light Orchestra and staff director for Tuacahn Center for the Arts) and an award-winning Utah-based creative team recently signed on to be a part of the project, according to the release.
“We have an amazing creative team and a script that is one-of-a-kind,” Covey Center Director Stephen Pullen said. “The Covey is just the beginning for this show. We feel it has the potential to become a very successful national tour.
The premiere is set to feature incredible sets, vocalists, and a script that illuminates the true story of the Osmonds’ wins and betrayals.
“The Osmonds: A New Musical” will make its North America debut at Provo’s Covey Center for the Arts from March 12-April 4, 2026.
Preview performances will be presented on March 10-11, 2026.
